Assalamu Alaikum friends. Today I am here to participate in a wonderful Steemit challenge competition organized by @josepha. The Topic of this challenge is SLC33-W5: My Community, My Story – Festivals, Culture & Traditions. So let's get started.

What is the name of the culture, festival, or tradition that is celebrated in your community? Tell us where it usually takes place and share the Google Map, Steematlas, and Google Plus location.

Today I will take you to visit one of the most traditional places in Bangladesh. Which we call Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar Sharif. It is located in Sylhet city. This Mazar Sharif in Sylhet is famous in Bangladesh. People from every corner of Bangladesh come to this shrine to share their thoughts, happiness and sorrow and to donate.

The gate of Hazrat Shahjalal Dargah Sharif is very attractive and is known as a traditional gate. For hundreds of years, people have considered it as a tradition. Every year, Islamic events are celebrated here through special programs. To go here, you have to come to Sylhet city. From there, you can take any vehicle to Shahjalal Dargah Gate.

In your community, why is this festival or tradition important to your community?

This shrine in Sylhet city is very famous. People come from far and wide to visit it. Because people here believe that a lot of purity can be achieved in this shrine. There is a mosque here where we also prayed. Next to it is a shrine where there is a grave of a prominent person and everyone surrounds him and prays.

Besides, there is a mass grave of hundreds of people behind this shrine. Where people stand and pray and fulfill other formalities. People from far and wide come and donate to this shrine and think that their hopes will be fulfilled. Apart from donations, they also give other products, food, etc. here just for peace of mind. Therefore, everyone considers this one of the important resources.

What activities do they like: music, dance, food, ritual, clothing, etc.

This Shahjalal Mazar Dargah Sharif is located across the vast area. Everyone likes to do business near the shrine, especially clothing and food businesses. People from far away come here to visit and shop for various things. Since it is a huge shrine Sharif, it is always crowded with people. So there are many business shops here. I find it most interesting to see some shops next to it. Here are some high quality Islamic products that are very attractive to look at and everyone wants to buy.

Especially here there are huge tasbis with which Islamic Surahs are recited. There are huge candles that are lit in houses or mosques. Here are some delicious dishes, chocolates, pickles and some other interesting products that are sold. We enjoy seeing these food and products next to the shrine.

Tell us what you enjoy the most about the tradition or celebration.

Since it has been traditionally celebrated for hundreds of years, all the matters here are managed by the committee. I enjoy several scenes here very much. Especially here I see hundreds of madmen coming from different areas who are mentally challenged. Their activities sometimes seem funny. Especially when they run.

Sometimes when food is arranged here, they run with bowls and are anxious to bring food. I enjoy their activities and these moments. Apart from this, sometimes huge bearded men are seen here who shout and threaten every now and then. A separate place has been made for them on one side of the shrine and there are 360 degree CCTV cameras as a complete security system of Mazar Sharif.

Share with us how it brings people together in your community, and tell us if you would recommend visitors experience it and why?

People from different parts of the community gather to visit this shrine. They pray to Allah here to fulfill their hopes. Although I went to visit different places in Sylhet city. At that time, this shrine was the only one we visited the most. Because we booked a hotel next to it. The gate in front of the shrine is very beautifully made.

Especially the logo in front of it attracts attention from afar with its lighting system. Its gate is the most attractive. That is why everyone is excited to take pictures of the head and body from in front of this gate. There is a huge mosque inside the shrine, in front of which I took pictures. Besides, there is an exit and entry gate on the opposite side of the shrine, which I have clearly shown. If you want to come here, go in the afternoon. Then you can enjoy the wonderful view.

Reading this description of Hazrat Shahjalal (R.) Mazar Sharif in Sylhet, a clear picture of the environment around the shrine came to my mind. The beautiful lighting of the shrine gate, the vast mosque inside, the historical mass grave, and the descriptions of the shops selling incense, candles, and tasbeehs beautifully highlight the cultural heritage of the shrine. Although I have not been there yet, in my opinion, Shahjalal Shrine is not only a religious or historical place; it is also a great place of mental refuge for the people of Bangladesh. People from far and wide come here with hopes or vows, which gives them a kind of spiritual peace. In addition, the traditional jilapi, tabaruk, and nighttime lighting of the shrine create a different atmosphere in this place. If you want to see the combination of Sylhet's tradition and people's beliefs, you really need to visit this place. Best wishes to you in this contest. 😊

Religious gatherings or shrine celebrations are usually unique in their own ways, bringing worshippers together. The Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar Sharif, which you have shared, looks great, and everyone looks happy being at the shrine.
