SLC31-W2 | The Green Journey | Making Pot Holders from Old Jeans (Upcycling DIY)

Assalamu Alaikum I hope everyone is well. Today I am going to participate in week-2 of “The Green Journey” challenge. This challenge teaches us how we can save the environment through Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R). We throw away a lot of old clothes every day, especially jeans which are very strong. Today I have made a pot holder using those old jeans. It is not only environmentally friendly, but also very useful in our daily work.

Required materials 👇

• Old jeans
• Old fabric (for borders/designs)
• Scissors
• Sewing machine
• Thread
• Ribbon

Step 1:

First I cut square pieces from old jeans as per the requirement.

Step 2:

Then I cut the fabrics evenly and arranged them together. I used two or more layers. So that it is thick and my hands are protected from heat.

Step 3:

Then I sewed the jeans fabric around the edges with a sewing machine. Then I turned it over. So that both sides look beautiful.

Step 4:

Then I applied a border around it with a different fabric. This not only enhances the beauty but also strengthens the edges of the fabric.

Step 5:

Finally, I attached a ribbon so that it can be easily hung. This part is very convenient for use in the kitchen. Then I made flowers by sewing so that it looks beautiful.

Finally, I was able to make a beautiful and usable pot holder. It is made entirely of old fabric, which is also good for the environment.
