To enter the Mainamati Cemetery, one has to cross a beautiful gate. As soon as one enters the gate, one sees hundreds of graves laid out in rows. On each grave, there is a flower plant, as if they are always remembered with respect.
The graves are kept neatly. A space has been kept between each row. Each grave has a plaque where the name, surname, country of birth, and time of death of the deceased person are beautifully presented.
The graves have been evaluated from a religious perspective. For example, Arabic writing is placed in the graves of Muslims, and crosses are placed in the graves of Christians.

At the time of visiting cemetry
The cemetery grounds are kept very beautiful and tidy; the grass in the grounds is kept short. You can tell by looking at it that it is always maintained. There is a toran ghar next to the cemetery, on the wall of which there is a brief history of the Second World War, which is written in Bengali and English. The correct history can be gathered from here.
The thick area is covered with green grass. The place is shaped like a small slope, so if you stand on the slope, you can observe the thick cemetery. There is also a memorial here in honor of the deceased grave dwellers.

Beautiful green atmosphere in the cemetry
The place has a lot of trees, so the environment looks amazing. Those who come to observe the place enjoy the place very much, besides paying their respects.
All in all, Mainamati War Cemetery has become a historical place.
Why is this place important to the history of your city or country? |
|---|
Mainamati War Cemetery plays a very important role in the history of our country. It bears the memory of the Second World War. We have much important information from that time. The bodies of 723 brave soldiers on the walls here remind us that war can never bring peace. They sacrificed their lives for the sake of duty. This place is a textbook for historians. Even if you are going to write the history of the Second World War, you have to mention the name of this place. That is why this place is very important for us.

Visitors come here to pay their respects.
How is the site preserved today? Does it still serve its original purpose? |
|---|
Currently, Mainamati War Cemetery is being managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC). They are assisted by some volunteers from the Bangladesh government. They look after the cleanliness, security, etc. They also work as guides for tourists coming here.

How do you feel when you visit this place, a symbol of pride for your people? |
|---|
I went from far away Dhaka to visit the Mainamati War Cemetery located in Comilla Cantonment. I have heard a lot about this place. That is why I traveled here. Entering here and seeing the graves of 723 soldiers together, I got emotional. They sacrificed their own lives for the country and the people of the country. They are great. I salute them. I express my love for them from the depths of my heart.

They are sleeping here, sacrificing themself for the country.
If you could describe the energy of this place in three words, what would they be? |
|---|
Those who gave their lives for the motherland cannot be repaid. No words can be used to honor them. Why can't three words be used to describe the vitality of this place even in three thousand words? 723 families are associated with the 723 graves. Then, if I had to describe the life force here in three words, the three words I would pronounce would be Salute, Salute, and Salute.

Visitors come here to pay their respects.
