SLC31-W4 | The Curious Explorer: Small Business Stories

Today is Monday!

I am a professional logistics & reporting expert and love spending time on the Steemit platform in my spare time. Today I have decorated my post with the experience of a very old and traditional leather shoe shop in Dhaka Cantonment, focusing on your 'The Curious Explorer' contest. It is a great thing for me to be able to share that experience through this contest. Thanks to @max-pro brother for organizing this contest. So, let's get started.

01. What kind of small business shop have you visited? Briefly introduce yourself.

Craftsman working in a shoe store

I visited a small but very popular shoe shop in our area, Shuvo Shoe Store. It is basically a small industrial enterprise where leather shoes are made by hand every day. Also, shoe repair is their main and most common job. I personally like to visit new places and small enterprises, which help me learn about the hard work, planning, and success of local businessmen. The profession of cobbler or leatherworker is a very old and artistic technical profession in our society. Basically, this profession is related to shoe-making and repairing. This shop plays a huge role in making old or dirty shoes shine like new.

How were the activities, services, and facilities at this place? (With pictures, prices, videos)

After entering Shuvo Shoe Store, I saw craftsmen doing repair work with great attention. This shop is the shop of a friend of mine's father. Since it is an old shop, manual work is more important here than modern machinery. Shoe repair in this shop, i.e., sewing, clapping, fixing heels, inking, and changing colours, is their main and most common work. I often get shoes sewn in this shop.

Environment and Service: The owner and employees of the shop have always treated me well since they are familiar with me, and they are very polite with other customers. They explained every step of shoemaking to me very nicely.

Facilities: In the store, they have a system of making genuine leather shoes on order according to the customer's foot size. In addition, shoe stitching, shoe clapping, shoe heel fixing, inking, and colour changing are done.

Price: Genuine leather shoes can be made here at a very affordable price. Below, I have mentioned a cost list of their services:

Share your experiences of that place as a Curious Explorer.

As a 'curious explorer,' visiting this shop was a great experience for me. Even in today's era of modern brands, Shuvo Shoe Store have maintained its values and traditions. Every staff member of this shop is quite busy during Eid. The perfect style of the craftsman's handiwork impressed me. Especially the skill of the craftsmen and the courage to do such a big job in a small space inspired me. I was collecting a pair of shoes from there many years ago, and I was satisfied with the quality of their work.

Finally, I would like to say that such local small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. It is a very hardworking and artistic profession. Many do not take this profession of a cobbler well; to them, I would like to say that no work should be looked at lightly. The main thing is to earn money in a halal way. We should encourage initiatives like Shuvo Su Store. I have tried to portray my visit in a good way.
