Homemade Samosa – My Admirable Food

Hello welcome to another exciting entry in the “From My Kitchen to Your Plate” food journey by @timiboy I am happy to participate in this week's theme, “Comfort Food for Sick Days.”

For this week's challenge, I decided to prepare homemade samosa, a delicious and crispy snack that is enjoyed by many families. I chose samosa because homemade food always feels special, especially when someone in the family is not feeling well. Preparing something warm and tasty is one of the little ways we can show love and care.

Today , I will be sharing my process from preparing the dough, making the samosa wraps, filling and folding them in small pieces all the way to frying and showing the final result.

My Samosa Recipe that I got from the market

Ingredients

For the samosa wrapper, I used:

Flour

Salt

Vegetable oil

Water

For the filling, I used enough mixture of vegetables, small pieces of chopped meat and seasonings.

Step1: preparing the Flour I prepared

I started by getting my flour ready in a bowl. The amount of flour depends on how many samosas I want to prepare.

Step 2: Adding of Salt

After I added salt to the flour and mixed it properly so that the salt will go round

Step 3: Adding of Groundnut Oil

I added vegetable oil to the flour. The amount of oil depends on the quantity of flour being used. For my preparation, I used about two tablespoons of oil for 500 g of flour.

Step 4: Making of the Dough

I added water while mixing everything together. I continued kneading until I achieved a smooth and workable dough to my taste .

After mixing and kneading the dough properly, I covered it and allowed it to rest a little bit

## Rolling of the Samosa Wrap

After allowing the dough to rest, I rolled it out carefully until it became thin and flat.

I then placed the flattened dough on a pan and cooked it lightly over low heat. While it was on low heat I prepared the sheet for the samosa

After preparing the sheets, I allowed them to cool before cutting them into the appropriate shapes.

The wrappers were now ready for the filling.

Preparing the Filling and Folding

I prepared my filling separately and allowed it to cool before putting it inside the wrappers of the samosa .

I put small amount of filling inside each wrapper and carefully folded it into the traditional triangular shape. I made sure the edges were properly sealed so the filling would remain inside during frying.

Frying of the Samosa

After folding all the samosas, I heated vegetable oil in a frying pan. I carefully placed the samosas into the hot oil and fried them until they became crispy and golden brown.

Once they were properly fried, I removed them from the oil and allowed the excess oil to drain.

The Final Result

Finally, my homemade samosas were ready to be served. They came out crispy, golden and delicious.

Looking at the final result made me happy because the whole process, from preparing the flour to frying the samosa, was worth the effort.

Why I Chose Samosa as Comfort Food

I chose this recipe because food prepared at home always carries a special feeling. When someone in my family is sick, we try to prepare something that is easy and enjoyable to eat, depending on what the person can eat comfortably

For me, comfort food is not only about the food itself. It is also about the care, love and attention that comes with preparing it for someone.

Memories of My Mom

This brought back memories of my childhood and the things my mother used to do whenever I was sick and I was in the hospital.

Whenever I wasn't feeling well, my mother would make sure I had something warm to drink something hot and something light to eat. I especially remember having warm tea or a fruit juice while resting.

Those little moments meant a lot to me. Looking back, I understand that it wasn't just the food that made me feel better. It was knowing that someone like my mom cared enough to prepare something for me and stay around to make sure I was okay and get well enough

That memory is one of the reasons I appreciate homemade food so much I can do it anytime I want

Final Presentation

I arranged my freshly fried samosas neatly on a plate and prepared them for serving.

Homemade food may look simple, but it carries so many memories and emotions. This samosa recipe gave me the opportunity to combine cooking, family memories and the comfort that comes from sharing food with people I love and respect

Hola amigo.
