A LESSON LIFE TAUGHT ME

Life is a lot to handle sometimes, but every "a lot" moment has actually taught me a lesson. You don't just wake up one day and see you're successful, you work towards it, build it with hardwork, discipline, humility and consistency.
This story is based on my experience when I was still under apprenticeship in fashion designing.

What is the most valuable lesson life has taught you?

• The most valuable lesson life taught me is to always stay humble and discipline. It pays to be humble, it could really take one far. Being humble doesn't mean you let people trample upon you or make you look like a slave to others....., it means doing away with pride and be ready to learn every good thing without considering the bad energy that comes from it. And being discipline attracts trust, opportunities and other good things one could think of.

• When i first started with my madam as an apprentice to learn fashion and designing of ladies wares, i felt confident if not over confident . Over confident in a way that I had the mentality that fashion designing is just only about cutting and sewing materials to make dresses. But I was wrong.
  The first day I was given a fabric and a design to make with it, i messed it up (not on purpose though). I thought i could do it without asking questions on how to go about it. When my madam saw it, she didn't even scold me; she just called me and told me to watch her and learn how is done. That day, my pride was broken. I realised I knew nothing.
  • This lesson helped me in changing the way I approach work and people. I no longer rush things and assume I know it all. I listen, observe and take corrections where needed and also ask questions before acting. Being humble and disciplined has opened bigger opportunities for me in life which also include referrals from my madam to me for some clients. Humility made me open to other people's opinion and discipline made me dependable.
    this is how this lesson has helped shape my life and decisions I make today.

• Be humble and open to learn; Don't just assume you know it, be ready to ask questions before acting.
• Mistakes are part of the process; Mistakes doesn't mean failure, it just means you should try harder and better.
• Don't be too confident early; Be of the mindset that your know nothing, so everything becomes a lesson.
