Measuring, Cutting, Fixing: My Contract Story
I received a contract call from a client. The contract was to fix a ceiling tiles in a big hall. With that I called my friend so that we can do it together. From the beginning of the work, we knew very well that it won't be easy, but we prepared very well.
First thing we did on the first day was to clear the hall. We shift chairs, table, and anything that can disturb us. We carried ladder, measuring tape, pencil, blade, gutter, pliers and gum. We unbox the ceiling and we check the ceiling size, measure the length and width. We write the measurement down so that we won't forget. The middle part of the ceiling was easy because it didn't need any measurements because it was straight line and a complete square. We just fix the tiles one by one, press it and it sticks.

The real issues started on day two when we reach the corners. The edges wasn't a complete square at all. It was some how rectangular in shape,so If you just put the tile like that, it will be bigger than the space. So we measure the cap for up, mark it with marker. My friend hold the tape, I write the number. We measure one side, then the other side, join the two together. After that, we carried the tile, mark the line, use gutter to cut and bend it with plier. The calculation in fixing this type of ceiling really stress us. We sweat, but we didn't give up.
We continue like that, corner by corner. My friend hold the ladder, I put the gum and the tile. Sometimes we used scaffold to climb and do it together. The hall was big, so the work was long. We spend hours measuring, cutting, fixing. We even stop to rest a little and drink water, then continue. Every time we finish one side, we look at it check if its balance. If it's not balance, we remove, cut again, and fix it back.

At last, we finish the whole hall. The ceiling was fine, the tiles straight, the corners fit very well. No space shown, everything neat. We look at the work, we just thank God. Then we head up to fix the fan too and it was also successful. The stress was a lot, but the joy after we finish was a better joy. My friend even said that next time we will it much faster, because now we have known a new trick about fixing this ceiling tiles. That's how my day went with the contract job from a client.
