Building Confidence Through Oral Assessment
Talking with My Pupil
I spent some time talking with one of my pupils, Bright Mboutidem Effiong of Winners Vineyard Academy, to know how well he understands what he is taught in school.
First, I asked him to tell me his name and class. He said his name is Bright Mboutidem Effiong and that he is in Basic 4.
I also asked him about his favourite subject. He said his favourite subject is CRK (Christian Religious Knowledge).
After that, I asked him some questions from what he has learned in CRK this term to see how much he could remember. He tried his best to answer the questions and showed that he has been paying attention in class. First, I asked him how many days after the Passover the Day of Pentecost was celebrated. Secondly, I asked him which city Jesus commanded His disciples to wait in after His ascension. Thirdly, I asked him what Jesus promised His disciples after His ascension.
This exercise was carried out to assess his knowledge of his favourite subject and to help build his confidence. It will also assist him in preparing for future tests and examinations while encouraging him to continue studying hard.
