The name of the competition is SLC33-W3: My Community, My Story – Transportation in My Area. I hope you all enjoy it, InshaAllah. So let's get started.

What is the common means of transportation in your community? Tell us, including the location of the transportation

The common and main means of transportation in our area is bus. Abdullahpur Bus Stand is one of the main and busy transportation centers in this region. It is located in the Abdullahpur area on the northern edge of Dhaka. From where buses of various long-distance and local routes of the country including Hanif Enterprise, Shyamoli N.R Travels, Saint Martin Transport and Golden Line operate regularly. From here, passengers can easily travel to different parts of the country.

Which mode of transportation system do you use more often in your community and why?

I usually use buses and CNG autorickshaws the most for commuting in our area. Being located near Abdullahpur bus stand, it is very easy to travel on various long-distance or local routes of the country. Besides, for urgent and quick travel, local buses or ride-sharing motorcycles are quite convenient. These modes are mainly my main choice for daily travel due to their affordable cost, ease of availability and convenience of commuting at any time.

How affordable, safe, and convenient is the transportation system in your community?

The transportation system in our area is quite affordable and convenient. Various long-distance and local buses like Hanif, Shyamoli and Golden Line ply regularly from Abdullahpur bus stand, making travel much easier. One can travel to different parts of the country at a very low cost. However, due to severe traffic jams and crowding, safety and comfort are sometimes hampered. Despite this, it is very convenient for the general public to travel due to the easily accessible ticket counters and buses on various routes.

Tell us the challenges that you and other commuters face with the transportation system and the improvements you would like to see.

The main problems of passengers with the transport system in our area are severe traffic jams, overcrowding in buses and schedule disruptions. Passengers have to wait for a long time in front of the Abdullahpur bus stand. In addition, there are complaints of shortage of seats inside the buses and sometimes overcharging at the counters. We want modernization of the traffic system, bus operation at specific times and adequate security in the buses. To maintain discipline among passengers, the counters need to be made more advanced and passenger-friendly.

What advice would you give to a visitor who is about to use the local transportation system in your community for the first time?

Some important tips for visitors who are going to use the local transport system in our area for the first time Book tickets for reliable buses like Hanif, Shyamoli or Golden Line to travel to Abdullahpur bus stand in advance. Start your journey with enough time to avoid heavy traffic jams. Before boarding a local bus or CNG, make sure to clarify the fare. Keep your valuables and luggage with you carefully while traveling to an unfamiliar place. Take help of the counter staff in case of any problem.
