SLC31-W3 || Our Surroundings A Series of Real Life Experiences ; Mosque & Temple

There is a particular community that I enjoy visiting each time I am in Akwanga. I particularly like paying a visit to the Akun Development Centre of Akpata because I have some friends in the area and I once lived in the community. As of yesterday evening, when I visited the community I went to the community church which is the temple in the community, though there are other temples of other denominations.

What type of service location did you visit? Briefly describe it.

Temple is the type of service location that I visit. The name of the temple is called; "Saint Peter's Catholic Church, Akpata. It is a community church and one of the oldest churches in the community which you can see how it looks in the images shared in this post.

The church is not that big, but it is of a medium size, and it is built by the community with the support of the Catholic diocese of Lafia. It is located in a lonely environment which is closer to a highway and as seen in the location the place looks so calm, as there are no close houses around it. Also, the church is still making use of old facilities like the windows, and the doors are old facilities which is to tell that the church has been around for years now.

Every Sunday people go to the church for worship, where the church service/mass usually starts from 6 am to 8 am on every Sunday. Besides Sunday worship there are old activities like the choristers' practice, the station of the cross, and other activities.

Operational history & Location (Steem Atlas pin)

This church has been in operation for years even before my arrival in the community. According to the information that I was told it is the first Catholic church to be built in Akwanga which is now more than 20 years old.

The church is located in the Akpata community, along the Akun development centre and the Alushi community. It is between aloce and akun development centre.

When you checked it on Google Maps, you will see the Akun local government office and the Alushi primary school as the two workplaces that are closer to the church. There is a good road that leads to the church, which is the road that connects Akpata with the Aloce community.

What are the roles and responsibilities of a mosque Imam and Muazzin, and a temple priest?

The roles and responsibilities of the temple priest which in the Catholic church are called Reverend Father, the senior in a parish or community church like St. Peter's Catholic Church, Akpata, and also the Catechist, and the Reverend Father, let me just use the word temple priest to say their roles and responsibilities.

Their roles and responsibilities are to preach the word of God, bringing people to Christ winning souls for Christ, resolving conflicts, baptizing members, hosting or leading mass or service, leading and overseeing members, blessing marriages, attending to the confessions of members, and several others.

Environmental impact & (With pictures + videos)

The church is located in a very lonely environment which is still developing gradually. The only environmental impact is noises during Sunday worship to passerby and those whose houses are closer to the church.

Also another environmental impact is children's that usually throw away dirty items such as biscuits leather, sweet stick and other items around the church environment which usually make the place to look dirty.
