SLC33-W2 || Our Surroundings: Let´s Talk About The News // Important business news from your region
Steemian Friends,
In week 02 of the Steemit challenge, I will discuss a business center in our area. I live in Dhaka, the capital of our country. The largest shopping mall in Dhaka, the capital of our country, is Jamuna Future Park. It is located about ten kilometers away from my house. I first reach a place called Jurain by auto rickshaw. Then I reach Dhaka Railway Station by train in twenty minutes. After about two hours by bus from Dhaka Railway Station, I reach Jamuna Future Park at 3.00 pm. I have lunch and enter the shopping mall. First, I enter a super shop located on the ground floor of the shopping mall. The name of the super shop is MR.DIY.
MR.DIY is a hardware, household, and electronics shop. The shop is located in a large area. Customers who come to shop at Jamuna Future Park come to the shop to buy hardware, household, and electronics products for their homes. There are about fifty salesmen in the branch. It opened its first branch in Malaysia in 2005. A branch was opened in Jamuna Future Park in April 2024.
MR.DIY is a popular super shop located in Jamuna Future Park, one of the largest shopping malls in Dhaka, where hardware, household items, electronics, stationery, kitchen accessories, toys, tools, and many other daily necessities are available under one roof. The shop's beautiful decor, neat environment, and affordable prices make it equally popular with shoppers of all ages.
Recently, I had the opportunity to shop at MR.DIY Shop in person. Upon entering the shop, the clean environment and the neatly arranged products caught my attention. Since each section was arranged separately, it was not difficult to find the required product. The store staff was sincere and provided information about the location and use of various products when needed.
My shopping list included some household items, a screwdriver set, a mobile charging cable, and some small kitchen items. The variety of brands and price options made it easy to choose products according to my budget. The quality of the products also seemed satisfactory. I especially found the collection of hardware and kitchen items quite rich.
Another positive aspect of the shop is that there are often discounts or special offers on various products. As a result, it is possible to buy good quality products at a relatively low price. The billing system is also fast, so there was no need to wait for a long time. The entire shopping experience was comfortable and enjoyable. There are online and offline facilities for payment.
From a business perspective, I think MR.DIY is a successful and well-planned organization. A large number of customers come here to shop every day. Many people prefer this shop because they can find all the small and large products needed by the family together. The company has gained the trust of customers with its affordable prices, quality products, and advanced customer service. Being located in a busy shopping mall like Jamuna Future Park, its business potential is also very high.

Decorated hardware, household, and electronics product
Overall, my shopping experience at MR.DIY was very positive. This shop is a great destination for those who want to buy hardware, household, and electronics essentials in one place. I will be interested in shopping here in the future as well and will recommend others to visit and shop there.
Rods are manufactured in my area. This is an industrial area. Here, a few days ago, some rod manufacturing companies closed down. Due to the political and economic crisis in our country, the companies stopped production. Even some units of our company have stopped production. I have seen two companies named Hasan Steel and Kadamtali Steel closing down. However, some new companies have started rod manufacturing.
But there are positive aspects to this too. Some new companies have started rod production, which is promising for the industrial sector. In my opinion, if the government adopts industry-friendly policies, ensures electricity and gas supply, and creates a stable environment for business, then many closed companies can reopen. This will increase employment and strengthen the country's economy.
Currently, various types of discounts are being offered in various supershops, shopping malls, and brand outlets in my area. These discounts are especially common during Eid, Puja, Independence Day, New Year, or seasonal offers.
- Products sold at discounts include:
- Daily essential groceries
- Kitchenware
- Plastic and household products
- Electronic accessories
- Clothing and shoes
- Stationery
- Cosmetics and personal care products
Such discounts provide various benefits to the community. Firstly, people can buy essential products at a lower cost, which reduces the monthly expenses of the family. Secondly, low- and middle-income people also get the opportunity to buy good-quality products. In addition, discounts increase the number of customers in the store, which further boosts local businesses and the economy. Overall, discount offers are beneficial for both consumers and businesses and encourage local economic activity.
The products I want to buy right now are:
Power Bank – Approx. 2,000–3,500 Taka or 400-700 Steem. This is very necessary for charging the phone when you are outside for a long time.
Wireless Earbuds – Approx. 1,500–4,000 Taka or 300-800 Steem. I want to buy this for the convenience of listening to music, watching videos, and talking on the phone.
32 GB or 64 GB USB Pen Drive – Approx. 500–1,200 Taka or 100-250 Steem. This is needed for storing and transferring important files and documents.
Backpack – Approx. 1,200–2,500 Taka or 250-500 Steem. This is useful for carrying books, laptops, and other necessary things while traveling or for daily work.
The main reason for buying these products is to make daily work easier, more comfortable, and efficient. The price may be slightly more or less depending on the brand, quality, and seller.
In my opinion, our region needs a modern agricultural and organic food store, a recycling collection center, and an affordable technology and computer service center.
If such a business is launched, local people will easily get quality and safe products and necessary technology services. At the same time, new employment opportunities will be created for the youth and the local economy will be strengthened. If there is a recycling center, it will be possible to properly recycle plastic, paper, and electronic waste, which will help reduce environmental pollution.
Overall, such a store or business will improve the quality of life of people, accelerate local business activities, and have a positive impact on the entire community in the long run.
In my observation, most businesses in my region still do not accept direct payments with cryptocurrencies. Most shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and other businesses still transact through cash, mobile banking (e.g., bKash, Nagad, Rocket), and bank cards.
The main reason for this is that there are clear legal and regulatory restrictions on the use and transaction of cryptocurrencies in Bangladesh. Therefore, businesses generally refrain from accepting such payments.
In my opinion, if clear policies and a secure infrastructure are created in this regard in the future, cryptocurrencies can provide some benefits in international transactions or online business. However, currently their use in my region is very limited, and it is not widely used in daily purchases.
While I was recording the video at the MR.DIY shop, some customers were standing in front of the cash counter with their serial numbers after shopping and paying. I stood in line to pay for the products I had purchased. I used my online bank card to pay. Then I completed my payment and went around the entire shop and recorded the video. When I recorded the video, it was time to close the shop, which was around 9:00 PM.
