SLC33-W4 || Our Surroundings: Let´s Talk About The News // What’s the latest education news in your region?
Steemian Friends,
I had the opportunity to visit Comilla Zilla School with my family during the holidays. Since the school is very old and traditional, I had wanted to visit it for a long time. Since it was a holiday, there were no classes in the school, so the whole environment was calm, quiet, and pleasant. Comilla Zilla School is one of the oldest and most traditional educational institutions in Bangladesh. It was established in 1837 during British rule. The main objective of its establishment was to spread modern education in the Comilla region and to develop skilled and educated citizens. Over a long period, this school has laid the foundation for the educational lives of thousands of students and has produced numerous accomplished people across various fields in the country. Here, educational programs are offered to students from fourth to tenth grade. I have shown the school's location below using the Steem-atlas pin code.

The school is well known for its disciplined education system, experienced teachers, good results, and co-curricular activities. Various activities, including science, literature, sports, cultural programs, debates, and scouting, are regularly conducted here, which play an important role in the overall development of the students. After entering the school, the first thing that catches your eye is the vast field and beautiful green trees. I was very pleased to see the clean and tidy environment all around. Looking at the design and architecture of the old building, it seemed that this school is not only for education, but also an important part of history. While walking around the campus, it seemed that every brick here has countless memories of many students and teachers.
I visited the various buildings, grounds, and open spaces of the school. Since it was a holiday, some families also came to visit with their children. The children were playing in the grounds, while the adults were enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I also took some memorable pictures and captured the beauty of the school on camera. Each educational building is known by different names, such as Meghna and Gomti Bhavan. There are various types of memorials related to education.

Through this trip, I realized that an educational institution is not just a place of study; it is a symbol of discipline, tradition, and inspiration. After spending some time in such an environment, my mind became very calm and cheerful. It is a truly pleasant experience to spend some time in such a historical place amidst the busy life of the city. This is one of the best educational institutions in the district or our country.
In recent months, I have noticed several positive changes in the educational infrastructure of my area. Various educational institutions have renovated buildings, kept classrooms clean, and added new benches and desks. Many schools have started using smart classrooms, as a result of which teachers are teaching through projectors. The improvement of clean water supply and hygienic toilets for students is also noticeable. The school grounds and campus have been made cleaner and greener. In addition, CCTV cameras have been installed, and surveillance at the entrances has been increased to ensure the safety of students. Various co-curricular activities, such as science fairs, sports competitions, and cultural programs, have also increased compared to before. As a result of these changes, the learning environment has improved, and students' regular attendance at school and their interest in learning are increasing.
Various initiatives have been taken to ensure inclusion and equity in the admission of students to educational institutions in my area. Admissions are being conducted on merit and following the prescribed rules as per government policies. In many schools, admissions are done through online applications and digital lottery, thus maintaining transparency and fairness. There are stipends, free textbooks, and various financial assistance schemes for students from economically disadvantaged families. Initiatives have been taken to provide easy mobility facilities and necessary support systems for students with disabilities. In addition, various awareness programmes are being conducted to ensure equal opportunities for both boys and girls, to make parents aware, and to bring dropout students back to school. As a result of these initiatives, admission opportunities in educational institutions have become more equitable and inclusive, and the doors of education have been opened more for all students.
This year, students from our area are planning to complete their studies and participate in higher education, technical education, and various career-oriented training. Many are preparing for university and college entrance exams, while others have set a goal to enter the workforce through skill development. The graduation celebration was joyful and memorable. The students celebrated the day with teachers, guardians, and friends through farewell ceremonies, cultural performances, reminiscences, and group photos. Everyone wished each other future success and wished them well for their new lives.
The use of technology in local schools has made the teaching method much easier and more effective. Currently, many teachers use multimedia projectors, smart TVs, and digital content to teach, so that students can understand the topics easily. Online results, digital attendance and various education-related information are also now easily available. Online classes are not currently regular, as most schools are teaching directly in the classroom. However, if necessary, in special situations or for additional support, students are taught and instructed through online classes, video lectures and messaging apps. This use of technology is playing an important role in improving the quality of education. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, online classes were held.

A celebration of greenery around the school grounds
Most schools and colleges in my area or community do not yet include discussions about the cryptocurrency market in their regular curriculum. However, there are occasional brief discussions about digital currencies, blockchain technology, and online financial security in IT, economics, or career seminars. There is a lot of interest among students. Many are eager to learn about the new technology, while others have questions about the risks, scams, and market fluctuations of investing in cryptocurrencies. Teachers generally advise students to rely on verified information and be aware of the risks.
I entered the Comilla Zilla School and recorded a video. Although today is a school holiday, the students are busy playing sports here. You can see the students playing in the field from the residential hall and the historical buildings of the school in the video. While recording the video, I was very happy to stand in front of the school building and see the greenery. Besides, the school is for boys. There is no education system for girls here.
