Steem Expedition 2.0 Everyday Routes. The popular meeting place

In my opinion, outside the familiar streets and busy lives of everyday life, there are social gatherings around us where people breathe life into themselves and bond with their families. On a wonderful holiday in 2025, I went with my entire family to one such popular gathering in the heart of Dhaka, the story of which I will share with you today.

Bangladesh Air Force Museum

Task 1

Name of the place

Our destination today is the Bangladesh Air Force Museum, Agargaon.

Exact address and directions

Address: Begum Rokeya Sarani, Agargaon, Attached with Metro Rail Station, Dhaka-1207. It is located on the east side of the road, right between the IDB building and the Election Commission Secretariat.

Transportation: It is very easy to reach here from any part of Dhaka. If you are coming from Uttara or Motijheel, the easiest way is the Dhaka Metrorail; I also went by Metrorail. This museum is just a 2-3 minute walk from Agargaon Metro Station. Apart from that, you can easily reach the main gate by taking a direct bus, CNG, or bike from Mirpur, Farmgate, or Shahbagh.

General description of the place, facilities, entrance fees, opening hours, rules, atmosphere, and, if any products are for sale, details of prices and payment methods

Environment and facilities: A large open green area. As soon as you step into the museum, you will see various warplanes, helicopters, and radars that are witnesses to the glorious history of the Bangladesh Air Force. It is not just an exhibition area but a wonderful natural and recreational park for the people of Dhaka. There are rides for children to play and a huge lake, which makes the environment very beautiful.

After buying tickets, everyone is waiting for the plane to take off

Food and shopping: There is a well-equipped food court inside the museum. There are snacks available, from chatti, fuchka, singara, samucha to juice and ice cream. However, I found the food prices a bit high, so we ate at a restaurant outside.

Payment method: Entry tickets and indoor rides or food courts usually require cash.

Rules: Throwing any kind of garbage inside is completely prohibited. Since it is a government institution, defacing or damaging the fighter jets is punishable by law.

Your personal experience and the service you received

That day in 2025 will remain etched in my memory forever. When I entered my house with guests from Chittagong, including their entire family, I felt a different kind of pleasure. The behavior of the museum's security personnel and ticket counter staff was very elegant and professional. What I liked most was that the vast area was covered so that the common people would not have any problems. There was a mapping guide with the ticket, which mentioned where everything was. Since there was an information board in front of each plane, I was able to learn the history of Bangladesh's airspace protection very easily. The experience of the whole family sitting together in the open field, talking and spending time in the gentle afternoon breeze, was truly unique (Alhamdulillah). The worst thing for me was having to buy a separate ticket to board any small plane.

Task 2

1. What kind of people bring this space to life, and is there an iconic figure associated with it?

This museum is basically a family gathering place. People from middle and upper-middle-class families bring their children here. Also, during the holidays, there is a noticeable crowd of young people and students from various schools and colleges. Before going here, I was watching a video vlog where it was shown that many people come here for picnics.

In my opinion, since this is a park or a museum, there is no single iconic character or person here, but the biggest attraction and iconic element here is the historic aircraft of the Balaka Biman and the glorious Kilo Flight of the great liberation war of 1971. Standing in front of these aircraft, every person looks at them with deep respect and curiosity, which gives the entire premises an atmosphere of patriotism.

My relatives boarded this plane and I captured it on camera

2. When you visit, are you the type to talk and interact, or do you prefer to be a silent observer?

I personally prefer to be a conscious visitor and a person immersed in a family in such places. I love to watch the hustle and bustle around, the children running around, and the smiling faces of the people from a distance. However, if a visitor is confused about the history or journey of an aircraft, I do not hesitate to step forward and talk or help (because I knew the details well before going here). Basically, my main goal is to enjoy my inner peace as well as feel the positive energy around me.

3. What is your most special childhood or teenage memory tied to this place? Or an anecdote from your time here?

No, I have not been here before. This Air Force Museum in Agargaon has a great memory from my youth. I often used to notice the atmosphere inside while travelling on this road, but when I took my own family and children to the same place in 2025, Alhamdulillah, a wonderful feeling was working.

4. In one word or a short phrase, how would you define the spirit of this place?

This is a great question. I would define it in one word or short sentence: "Family bonding in the lap of history and nature."

Conclusion

I think that open spaces like the Agargaon Biman Museum can help us to get rid of our fear of being a Dhaka citizen. Also, the moments spent with our family are the treasure of our lives. Alhamdulillah, I have tried to share this story of my journey and experience with everyone by telling it correctly. If anyone wants to visit Dhaka, I will keep visiting here. I will have to take this gathering to my family.
