The Real Video Vlogging Adventure Challenge: E2

Good day, everyone! Alhamdulillah for winning last week's session! By the infinite mercy of the Most Gracious Allah, I was among the winners. Thank you all for your love and support.

Today was a little different—cloudy skies and rainy weather. On such a day, the joy of visiting and shopping at the familiar markets of your area is different. I am really happy to be able to join this video vlogging event of Steemit Challenge Season 33 (Week 2) again.

Local Market: Manikdi Bazar

Today I will take you to our favorite Manikdi Bazar in the Dhaka Cantonment area. Come, let's enjoy the hustle and bustle of Manikdi Bazar, various shops, and the experience of buying mangoes with me on a rainy afternoon!

1. Why did you choose this topic for your video vlog, and what makes it special to your local culture or personal experience?

For me, the atmosphere of walking to the local raw market on a rainy day is completely different. So I chose option number 3, i.e. Buying food ingredients from the local market.

Manikdi Market is very close to my house. Since childhood, I have seen that there is a strange soul of our Bengali culture hidden in going to the market and buying fresh things rather than vegetables packaged in supermarket packages. Even in today's rainy weather, I went to the market mainly to buy sweet mangoes. I was looking for Amrapali or Rupali mangoes, but since I could not find good Rupali mangoes in the market, I bought fresh Bari mangoes on the advice of the seller's brother. Our local culture emerges through the familiar shouts of the sellers, the smell of the market, and such small incidents. I think the raw market is not only a place for shopping but also a wonderful center for human-to-human relationships. I chose this topic to share my own personal experience and the warmth of local culture with you.

2. What were the most interesting moments or challenges you experienced while recording this vlog?

The most beautiful moment during the video was when the mobile fruit vendor's brother cut a mango beautifully while selling it and let me taste it. His simplicity and the spontaneous moment of cutting the mango were captured on camera and were very beautiful.

Exploring the vibrant vibe of Manikdi Local Market

On the other hand, due to today's rainy weather, the road was a bit slippery, and it was quite challenging to shoot in landscape mode while holding an umbrella and market bags in the crowd with one hand while holding a mobile stabilizer. However, in my opinion, the short time it took to make the video captured an authentic experience.

3. What new knowledge or experience did you gain while creating this video, and what would you like viewers to learn from it?

While making this video, I realized something new—even if we don't get a certain variety of fruit or vegetable, local vendors always have some good alternative (like Bari mango instead of Rupali mango) that is no less tasty. Also, it is truly admirable how these marginal vendors provide service with a smile even in bad weather. I think that by watching this vlog, viewers will understand how much fresh food is valued in local markets. Viewers will appreciate the satisfaction of going beyond the mechanical shopping and buying fresh fruits and vegetables from our local vendors.

4. Based on your experience, would you recommend others to explore this food, market, or cooking style? Explain the reason for your recommendation.

In my opinion, every person should experience shopping at least once a week at a local market in their area, even if the weather is a bit cloudy or rainy! So I would definitely recommend visiting Manikadi Market or similar local markets.

Fresh Grapefruit

The reason for this is that the taste and nutrition of fresh fruits and vegetables from local markets are many times better than the food from modern cold storage. And the most important thing is that the people of these markets are easy-going; the love and sincerity that they show you when you cut and taste mangoes can never be found in a supermarket's automated shopping.
