My Neighborhood watch|| A man has been arrested after throwing his two children from a storey building in Aba

A man has been apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday because of an incident in which he is been alleged to have thrown two of his children from a storey building in Umuobe, near Barracks Junction, along Opobo Road in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

This incident has caused panic among residents after the man was reportedly found lying unconscious but still breathing in front of his house, and sustaining injury to the head.

An eyewitnesses told the operatives and the public that, the man as alleged, threw his two children from the upper floor of the storey building and attempted to throw down his wife before he reportedly threw himself down from the storey building.

The two children were immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention. Both children is reported to have survived the fall, but the details of their medical condition were not made available immediately.

The situation unfolded and residents gathered at the scene of the incident and called on the concerned and appropriate authorities to intervene and assist to provide to salvage the situation. Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force came at the compound at about 6:22 p.m on Thursday to assess the situation and lay hold of the scene to stop escalation.

It was at about 6:32 p.m, that the man was taken away by the police after he reportedly refused and resisted efforts to take him into custody. The police overpowered him and bundled him into the vehicle. He was eventually moved from the scene as the police officers renaged efforts to restore calm and commence further investigations into the matter.

The root cause or circumstances surrounding the incident is yet to be ascertained, while the police are expected to carry out further investigations so as to determine the issues that led to the alleged attack on the children and the man’s subsequent fall from from the storey building.
