Though the neighborhood watch is gone, I would be sharing some neighborhood matters || There is tension in ovom as bad roads forces residents to block shortcut roads used by motorists
The eventual withdrawal of our weekly neighborhood reporting is what I personally didn't anticipate. The neighbourhood reporting has gained favourable participation and won the hearts of many steemians and steemians found it to be an interesting contest.
The neighbourhood weekly reporting gathered a lot of reports from the good, the bad, and ugly events that made us to be more aware the things that go on in our society. It was such a consistent contest that our dear own, @xkool24, ensured that contest participants who won the contest, got their rewards accordingly.
I didn't expect that the neighborhood weekly report contest would be gone because of the attention it gets and and its consistency. It has really eaten deep in the hearts of the participants.
Even though the regular weekly report contest has come to a halt, I will be making some neighborhood reports to keep the community aware of what is happening in my environment.
Bad state of the Opobo road has forced residents to block shortcuts used by motorists
Motorists and residents in Ovom, Obingwa Local Government Area, are now having serious mobility challenges as the a well known major shortcut route used by the residents and motorists in the area is being blocked. The road connects okpuafor to Umunkama in ovom , Obingwa LGA.
The road blockade comes after long and several complaints were made over the bad state of the Opobo Road by the Mechanic Village axis, that has now become so bad to pass through because of the absence of a functional drainage system. The road is now in waterlogged, and now causing serious difficulties for vehicles and pedestrians alike to pass through.
Information available show that the residents are frustrated and so decided to construct a gate across the shortcut and secure it with a padlock, to effectively restrict people and vehicles from bypassing the main road that is dilapidated.
The street road blockade was done in order to draw attention to the heavy traffic and wear on the alternative route caused by motorists who are trying to avoid the main Opobo Road.
The situation as reported, is now infusing palpable tension in the area, with rising fears of having possible confrontation between affected commuters and the residents who are enforcing the blockade.
To this end, the concerned takeholders are calling on the appropriate authorities to urgently come to their rescue by addressing the root cause of the this challenge so as to restore peace, normalcy and prevent any eventual escalation of the tension in the area.
It is unfortunate that, at this age we are in, there are still roads that are in their worst state. Even after several complaints, nothing is being done on the roads.

Thank you for drawing my attention... I am only taking a break from the Neighborhood Watch contest. Hoping for a return soon. I appreciate your effort in keeping the trend moving.
