When A Thursday Film begins, it shows a play school where 16 children are taught. Yami Gautam is a teacher named Naina Jaiswal. She is very close to the children, This play school has all the facilities for the children. Naina Jaiswal sends away the staff under some pretext and takes all the children hostage.
But the children are unaware of this. She locks all the doors and calls the police, telling them that she has taken 16 children hostage. "Fulfill those demands with some of my demands," she said. If my demands aren't met, I'll kill the children one by one. Just then, a driver and a staff member arrive, and she takes them hostage as well.
In no time, the news goes viral, and the media, police, and the parents of the children being held hostage all arrive. She first demands ₹5 crore (50 million rupees) in her account. When the police refuse, she kills one of the children. The demand is then met, ₹5 crore (50 million rupees) is deposited into her account, and she releases one of the children.
She makes a second demand: to speak to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister speaks to her on the phone, but she wants to speak face-to-face. The Prime Minister refuses, so she shoots the driver she was holding hostage.
The Prime Minister comes to meet her and learns that she was raped as a child by her school bus driver, and she's unable to overcome the trauma, and the police didn't support her. Her culprit wasn't punished, and the driver, whom Naina had held hostage, had raped her as a child. Everyone's eyes well up with tears. But upon seeing the Prime Minister, the driver refuses to admit his guilt and snatches the police's revolver, attempting to shoot Naina. However, the police's revolver is empty, and Naina fires her own revolver at him, killing him right there, right in front of the Prime Minister. The police arrest Naina, but as initially suspected, Naina held the children hostage for money or as part of a terrorist plot. But when people learn Naina's story, everyone's eyes fill with tears. Today, Naina has received justice..
How did the twist changed the story? |
|---|
At one point in the story, it appeared that Naina Jaiswal had taken the children hostage for money or due to terrorist motives. However, the plot took such an unexpected turn that it completely shifted the viewer's perspective. Her intention was never to harm the children; throughout the film, she never once caused them any distress and consistently looked after their well-being. Her sole objective was to draw the attention of the nation, the media, and the government to the issue—specifically, the fact that the system had denied her justice—and to finally secure that justice.
What was your reaction to the twist |
|---|
My reaction to the twist is that she did the absolute right thing. Only the person who suffers—the actual victim—can truly understand the situation; when justice is denied, one can draw everyone's attention to the issue in this manner without harming anyone.
She caused no harm to anyone, as the only person who would ultimately suffer any loss was she herself. The police arrested and took her away, yet she never inflicted pain on anyone. She had been enduring this suffering since childhood, and finally, she received justice. She adopted a truly excellent approach.
