🇳🇬 Nigeria Has Too Much Talent to Keep Missing the World Cup — What Needs to Change?
Let's be honest, Nigerian football fans.
Something has to change.
Nigeria has produced some incredible footballers over the years. We have players competing at major clubs in Europe, talented young players coming through, and millions of passionate supporters.
Yet the Super Eagles are not at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
For a country with Nigeria's football history and talent, that's extremely disappointing.
And this isn't about blaming one player or one coach.
I think the problem is bigger.
⚽ Talent Has Never Really Been Nigeria's Problem
Look at the Nigerian players currently making an impact around Europe.
Victor Osimhen remains one of the biggest Nigerian football stars, while players such as Wilfred Ndidi and Paul Onuachu continue to feature prominently in European football. Recent reports also highlight the growing number of Nigerians playing in Turkey's top division.

So when I look at the players available to Nigeria, I don't think we lack talent.
The question is: are we getting the best out of that talent?
🧠 We Need Stability
One thing I believe Nigerian football needs is more stability.
Constant changes in coaches, tactics and expectations make it difficult to build a team that truly understands how it wants to play.
A national team doesn't have months together like a club team.
That makes preparation, clear tactics and player selection even more important.
🇳🇬 We Also Need to Develop the Next Generation
We can't depend forever on the same big names.
Nigeria needs to continue developing young players who can eventually become Super Eagles stars.
Our domestic football system should be part of that process.
Young Nigerian players need opportunities, proper coaching and a clear pathway from domestic football to the highest level.
🔥 The Good News?
I don't think Nigerian football is finished.
Far from it.
Nigeria still has enormous football talent, and the Super Eagles remain one of Africa's strongest football nations. The focus now has to be on building properly for the future rather than constantly looking backward.
The next major challenge is making sure Nigeria returns to the World Cup and doesn't allow another qualification failure to become a pattern. Current reporting on the 2027 AFCON qualifying draw shows Nigeria grouped with Madagascar, Tanzania and Guinea-Bissau — a group that looks manageable on paper but still requires consistency.
