Good day everyone.
A warm greeting to the host of this wonderful contest, all the moderators, friends, and every member of this beautiful community. Thank you for giving us another interesting topic that makes us think about real-life family issues.
Family problems are not always caused by lack of money. Sometimes the biggest problem is pride, poor communication, and refusing to understand each other. Today, I will be sharing my thoughts on the two cases I picked.
🔴 Case 1: Husband and Wife
A man refuses to provide for his family because his wife has money. He also refuses to communicate with her because he believes she should always come to him first. The wife, on the other hand, refuses to cook or feed him because he doesn't care about the family.
Honestly, this case made me shake my head because both of them are acting like two people trying to win a competition instead of building a family.
😂 Imagine husband and wife living in the same house like two tenants waiting for who will greet first. One is waiting for food, the other is waiting for responsibility. At the end, everybody is hungry... even the children are confused.
In my opinion, the husband is more at fault here.
When a man gets married, one of his major responsibilities is to care for his family. It doesn't matter whether the wife is richer than him or not. If the wife is earning well, that should be a blessing to the family, not an excuse for the husband to abandon his duties.
I have seen families where both husband and wife work. The husband still pays bills, buys food, and takes care of the children while the wife also supports where she can. That kind of partnership brings peace into the home.
The issue of communication is another serious problem. Marriage is not a game of "who will talk first."
If both people keep waiting, they may wait forever.
Sometimes saying, "Good morning," or "How was your day?" can solve problems before they become bigger. Pride has destroyed many relationships that love could have saved.
Now, looking at the wife, I understand why she became angry. Carrying the whole family alone can be frustrating. However, refusing to cook for her husband is not the best solution because it only makes the problem worse.
Instead of using silence or food as punishment, they should sit down and have an honest conversation. If talking alone doesn't work, they can invite a trusted elder, family member, or marriage counselor to help settle the misunderstanding.
My Advice
- The husband should accept his responsibility as the head of the family.
- He should stop depending on his wife's money alone.
- Both husband and wife should communicate openly instead of waiting for who will speak first.
- The wife should express her feelings calmly instead of using food as revenge.
- Both should remember that marriage is teamwork, not a battle of pride.
🔴 Case 2: Parents and Children
Parents refuse to talk to their children unless the children greet them first. The children only speak to their parents when they need money because they find their parents difficult to approach.
This one is common in many homes.
Some parents believe respect means children must always start every conversation.
Some children also believe, "If I don't need money, there is no reason to call Daddy or Mommy."
Both sides lose.
Growing up, many of us have seen homes where everyone stays in different rooms, holding their phones, and the only conversation is:
«"Daddy, I need school fees."»
«"Mummy, I need transport."»
😂 Once the money is sent, everybody goes back to silence.
That is not how a healthy family should be.
Personally, I believe the parents carry more responsibility here because they are the adults.
Parents should create an atmosphere where children feel free to talk about school, friendships, challenges, dreams, and even mistakes without fear.
If every discussion ends with shouting or harsh judgment, children will naturally stop opening up.
At the same time, children should also make an effort.
Not every phone call should begin with, "Daddy, please send me money."
Sometimes, call just to ask:
"How are you today?"
"How is your health?"
"How was work?"
Those simple conversations build stronger relationships.
My Advice
- Parents should become more friendly and approachable.
- They should start conversations without waiting for the children every time.
- Children should communicate regularly, not only when they need financial help.
- Both sides should spend quality time together whenever possible.
- Love grows where communication is constant.
🔴 Conclusion
From these two cases, I learned one important lesson:
Family problems are not always about money. Most times, they begin when communication stops and pride takes over.
No family is perfect, but many problems can be solved when people are willing to listen, forgive, and take responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming one another.
A simple conversation today can prevent a big misunderstanding tomorrow.
