The Diary Game: 13/05/2026 || Football Training Moments With My Friends
it started from hearing that my friends were going to have a football match today, and immediately I knew I didn’t just want to watch, I wanted to capture the moments as they happened, because matches like that always carry real energy, so from that point my mind was already set on going with my camera to document everything from start to finish.
Before leaving the house, I took my time to properly arrange and package my camera, checking my lens, battery, and making sure everything was set for the snapping, because once the match starts there is no time to be adjusting too much, and while preparing, there was already that excitement building in me knowing I was going to capture real moments of the game
When I got to the field, the atmosphere was already lively even before the match began, my friends were gathered together discussing their game plan, talking about how they were going to play, choosing positions, and organizing themselves into different formations, and from the way they were talking, you could tell they were serious and ready for the match
Before kickoff, they started warming up properly, doing light runs, stretching, and even taking some energy drinks to prepare their bodies, and that moment showed how focused they were because nobody was just standing around, everyone was active and getting ready, building that energy before the game would fully begin
the weather also played its part in making everything feel right, because it was calm and balanced, no rain, no harsh sun, just that perfect kind of atmosphere that allows players to move freely without distraction, and standing there with my camera, it already felt like everything was set for a good match
As the match finally kicked off, the energy on the field changed instantly, players moving quickly, passing the ball, calling out to each other, and trying to control the game, and from behind the camera I started capturing those moments one by one, focusing on the movement, the action, and the small details that make football interesting
One thing that really stood out was how good my friends were in playing, because their skills showed clearly in the way they handled the ball, their control, their passes, and even their positioning on the field, and you could tell they understood the game well from how they moved and supported each other during the match as the game continued, the intensity kept building, more movement, more effort, and more exciting moments to capture, and I kept snapping different shots from different angles, trying to make sure I didn’t miss anything important, because every part of the match carried its own kind of story
By the time the match was coming to an end, I had already captured a lot of strong moments, and looking back at everything from the preparation at home to the game itself, it all came together nicely, and it felt good knowing I didn’t just witness the match, but also captured it in a way that would keep those memories alive beyond just that moment.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
The part where you said you knew immediately you wanted to capture the moments rather than just watch — that instinct is what separates a good diary post from a great one. The energy in live sports is hard to describe in words alone but your camera setup came through. How long have you been shooting action/sports specifically? The motion in those training shots looks deliberate.
