Spider-Man 2 is a 2004 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man.
Directed by Sam Raimi and written by Alvin Sargent from a story conceived by Michael Chabon and the writing team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, it is the second film in Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, following Spider-Man (2002).

The film stars Tobey Maguire as its title character, alongside Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Alfred Molina, Rosemary Harris, and Donna Murphy. The plot follows Peter Parker as he tries to manage his job, academics, personal life, and life as Spider-Man while also attempting to stop the scientist Dr. Otto Octavius from re-creating a dangerous experiment.

At some point in the movies, our life experiences get portrayed through a character’s journey. The screen presence either devastates us or emboldens us through that cinematic recreation.
At the beginning of the year, I was at my darkest ebb, faced with the pressure from 400-level academics, financial strain, and an aching emotional void.

It was the moment of looking for solace and then I saw my story on the big screen!

A 2004 movie that caught my eye;Spider-Man 2. I click, it started and the screen went agape!

Choose a character you strongly relate with

When you picture Peter Parker, you think superhero versus superheroes, right? I do too! But not that day.

While watching that day, I saw not a superhero, but myself; a starving, overwhelmed, grieving university student who struggled to stay afloat with immense responsibilities and unique abilities.

The character Peter in Spider-Man 2, was literally mirroring my life as a Nigerian university student and gave me what I craved more than anything else:Hope.

Mention the similarities between you and that character?(Struggles and strength)

The similarities rities between our struggles in terms of grieves are uncannily accurate.
In Peter’s life, he mourns to his parentfigure UncleBen in Spider-Man 2 ,a fact that weighs immensely on his mind.

Mine was My Mum . Losing your mum changes your world forever – in many ways ,there is nothing that a good grade can fill that hole .
Just as Peter isolated himself ,in my cases i can be with my course mates, surrounded by 200 more people in a hall at UNIBEN and still feel alone, lonely, a void only they can and will never Fill.

The disparity of finance and academic workload are also strikingly similar.
In the film ,peter's guardian can only do so much as far as school fees is concerned, forcing Peter to take on a number of small gigs – delivering pizzas and so on.
To my case my Dad can only cater for school fees to an extent… to my hunger, feedings ,and my well being entirely on me, in UNIBEN’S hard stressful system and I think there is more 400 level struggle than a student who does Not have a Financial deficit.

Our strengths are eerily the same . In Spiderman 2 ,as Peter’s personal life collapses, he proves to be very brilliant at science.
With sheer willpower and perseverance, I myself ,have been successful at securing good grades for 400-level regardless.
The struggle to keep my GPA afloat whilst grief grips my heart and finance drains me is, to say the least, my silent act of heroism.

Additionally, our alternate selves perfectly complement us. When Peter wears that Spiderman suit and leaps across the skyline of New York city, its pure escape and freedom.
Mine happens when I’m wearing my football cleats and on the football pitch where I, as someone very good at it, can be a bit boastful and heroic as a “ spider – hero” wearing football shoes instead of red shoes,

What lessons have you learnt from that character?

Peter’s journey through his lowest point thought me some important lessons I wouldn’t otherwise know.

The first is that, it is okay to feel like I cannot bear more pain and struggle that my strength lies in simply refusing to quit.I learnt my grief for my mum does not and will not be a hindrance in me but a driving vehicle of hope.

Secondly,I learnt that to embrace the gifts you possess, to make out time for a lot of laughter and to never stop pursuing those little escapes that make you fly -even on the toughest days.

In conclusion, that night, a mere superhero movie found me at my breaking point and handed me hope. It affirmed my suffering ,empowered my abilities, reminded me of how to write an honorable conclusion as I journey through this tough phase of my life as a student.
And while i do not wear a cape or swing across the skies of Benin ,as i navigate 400 level armed with my good grades ,my football cleats, and the memories of my mum’s smile ;i know i ‘m the real hero of this story.
