Movie and Character Selection

The movie that I will discuss for this requirement is a well knownNigerian, highly praised political film called King of Boys. The Character that I identify myself most strongly with within this film is the Main Character, Eniola Salami*.

Eniola Salami is such a determined driven woman , entrepreneur and philanthropist who has significant control over many political figures . I feel Eniola is such a multifaceted woman, living in and surrounded by a man's wicked world, although keeping a brave cover trying to save her land , family , staff and finances of herself . The dynamic nature where she originates , mirrors the deep lived experiences that my own 30's has come with; along with deep intrinsic personal traits, drive and emotionally based issues .

Comparisions: Struggles And Strengths.

*Strengths

Tough Girl mentality:Thanks to my mentality, Eniola Salami could not be pushed around or deterred by anything difficult and has built an Empire all on her own through perseverance; similar I myself am extremely pleased that I am resilient, I am and can tough; so when situations prove too challenging for the Average person I go all the in; ready to challenge.

Loyalty and the need to step-up for others: Eniola has been portrayed to be extremelyloyal tothose she deems as family and believes it's part of her duty to look out for her constituents; in similar veinI can identify with this deepenssence of loyalty to those I identify as friends/family members; I naturally need to lead and take responsibility for those around me and help enable their success.

forward Thinking (Planning): she’d be seen scouting the battle field way before the war begins; this again is one trait I strongly have; the ability to strategise, take my time with plans and tackle one piece of action at a time.

*Struggles

The burden of expectation:Eniola has to carry the load of carrying an almost unreasonable sense of pressure to deliver under testing scrutiny. For myself I also feel this weight sometimes too, and under the sheer weight of expectations; you tend to strive so hard to be perfect.

Difficultly Trusting People:Eniola struggles to let go and relinquish a lot; due to the nature of her dealings and background; for example of this can be in when she was betrayed numerous times throughout the plot. This very similarly mirrors me; I struggle with letting go and entrusting people as well as relying on them; perhaps out of the fear of being disappointed I carry it all myself than speaking.

Dissemblism:Eniola has a internal conflict over using her masculine approach to be cold, ruthless and strategic at times; and using the other side of herself to be sweet, bubbly, friendly and compassionate. [Specifically for me] ; transitioning from this black and white mentality towards becoming a softer , 'white' mentality is another thing I also have difficulty with and am in two minds about which path to pursue; not always able to find a balance .

The lessons I was able to pick up from Eniola Salami :

Strength Without Strategy is Dangerous.; From Eniola’s experience; the lessons which are clear throughout are strength of character, willpower, persistence, power; is not enough , it must be coupled with tactical sense, mental acuity, great timing, an understanding and compassionate heart that uses their strength without harming that which they value.
