Mordecai's Power Of Foresight And Wisdom (29/04/2026)

A vacancy was created in the palace of Ahasuerus the king for a replacement of the queen in the book of Esther chapter two. Here there was a remarkable role of a character called Mordecai. His power of foresight and wisdom positioned Esther to occupy an important place in the history of the Jews. Failure in possessing power of foresight and wisdom had landed many in untold hardship. Let us apply our heart to wisdom. The study will be looked under the following areas:

1. Sentencing ignorance to death: In Esther chapter 1:10-16, Mordecai while at the gate was fully aware of what was going on in the palace. He needed to limit himself to adjust the gate business. His eyes and ears were opened to what was going on in the environment. It was this awareness of his that made him to be aware of the vacancy existing in the kings palace. Some of us are so ignorant of what is going on around us. We are not current. No wonder God said my people perish for lack of knowledge, Hosea 4:6. God's people are gone into captivity because there is no knowledge. If so be there will be suffering awaiting one without knowledge, we should repent in dust and ashes. The following passages encourage us to seek knowledge for this is the only way there can be total destruction to ignorance. Col. 1:9-10, knowledge will make us see opportunities. What then do we do with this opportunity.

2. Seizing every opportunity to God's glory: Mordecai made good use of the opportunity Esther 2:5-10,17; he quickly sent Esther to contest. He never knew that the life of the Jews would be preserved by this gesture. He would have had so many reasons why this opportunity would had been overlooked. In this single act of his we can read the following virtues faith, determination, diligence, zeal etc. These virtues pushed him to go ahead with his objectives. Eventually his effort was rewarded. If it were some of us the opportunity will come and go unutilized. Have not we lost many opportunities that would have transformed us? Rebekah did her normal good works to Eliezer not knowing she was making history by that act. Gen. 24:16-22, Joseph act of interpreting dream was a step forward to ascending to the throne. Gen. 40.6-13; 41:9-13 Jesus followers decision made them big people in human history. John 1:35-42. The good act of a woman who was a sinner did what a saint could not do and she obtained forgiveness. Luk. 7:37-38, 44-47.

3. Searching for wisdom in life endeavour: Here again we see exemplary wisdom in Mordecai, we can check it out in Esther 2:20-23; He gave Esther a charge not to show anybody what had happened. Some of us talk too much, in the course of it you will not know when you reveal a secret to your enemy. Wisdom will restrain you in taking some action. Mordecai performed another act of wisdom by revealing the plan to kill the king. Fools despise wisdom. Seek wisdom until you obtain it. A man of wisdom does not waste time, talent, resources etc.
