The movie highlighted social issues such as racism, discrimination, and inequality faced by Black domestic workers in the United States in the 1960s. The women were treated badly in the country despite dedicating their lives to caring for other families their were still treated unfairly. The film also showed how people in our society accepted separation and racial discrimination as a normal part of culture during the 1960s.
Did it change how you see this issue?
The movie changed how I see this issue because the movie has helped me to understand how painful it can be for someone to face discrimination especially when it becomes part of everyday life. Also, the movie showed that when a person or people remain silent without speaking up injustice will continue. The women didn't remains silence their speak up with courage which inspired me to value equality, respect, and kindness more sincerely.
How is this theme discussed this week relevant today?
This theme remains relevant today because things haven't really changed that much as many people around the world are still experiencing discrimination due to gender, race, religion, tribe, and even social class. In some societies, their traditions are unfair to women. Finally the movie each time I watch it reminds me that people should challenge injustice rather than simply accepting it.

The good thing about speaking out is that it helps others understand your pain and struggles. A movie about racism and discrimination does just that.
Nothing impedes society like segregation and discrimination. That's why bigotry, sexism, racism and classism keeps crippling societies. Gladly, many people are getting to understand the weight of practicing or enabling these forms of discrimination. Movies and policies are introduced to encourage inclusivity.
I look forward to a time when racism and the other issues I raised will be a thing of the past. Where we see ourselves for ourselves and not let skin tone, gender, or religious affiliations cloud our judgement.
