Whenever I choose to watch a movie, my first priority is movies whose story is not only interesting but also teaches some beautiful life lesson. In my view, a good movie is the one that makes people think even after it is over. That's why The Butterfly Effect (2004) is one of my favorite movies, because its story, emotions and surprising twists are still fresh in my mind.

The story of the film revolves around a young man named Evan Trebourn. The one who forgets parts of his life due to a few horrific events that happened in his childhood. Years later when he reads his old diaries, he learns the shocking truth that he can go back in time and change his decisions.

Evan remembers the painful moments from his past.

At first he thinks that if he can right his wrongs, everyone's life will be better, especially his childhood friend Kelly, who has suffered a lot. But every time a small change in the past creates a new and more complex reality in the present. When one problem ends, many new problems arise.

The strongest aspect of the film is that the viewer can never guess what will happen next. Well each new twist feels more surprising and emotional than the last. It is this unexpected twist. That makes this film unforgettable. It keeps the suspense till the end.

༻How did the twist change the story?༻

The final twist of the film changed the meaning of the entire story. At first it seems that Evan will solve every problem with his power. Then eventually he realizes that it is not possible to change every decision of fate.

Evan sees Kayleigh after many years.

Sometimes truly loving someone means sacrificing your own desires for their happiness. Well this feeling makes the film not just a time travel story. It is a profound example of love, sacrifice and destiny.

༻What was your reaction to the twist?༻

The ending of this movie was really unexpected for me. I was constantly hoping that everything would be fine in the end. Well the film took a completely different path. The ending also made me sad and taught me a lot.

Evan reads his diary before going back to the past.

I realized that even the smallest decisions in our life can have big consequences in the future. Well this is the message that makes this movie so special to me. Maybe that is why I love watching it over and over again.

To me The Butterfly Effect is not just a movie. It is a life lesson. I always like to watch movies that have a strong story and teach something about life. This is why this movie is among my favorite movies. If, like me, you like to watch movies that have unexpected twists, emotions and a beautiful lesson, then I would definitely recommend you to watch The Butterfly Effect. For me, this movie left a message that even the smallest decisions in life can have a profound impact on our future.
