This movie is more than 25 years old. Maybe I watched it because I watched a lot of movies back then. Or maybe it is because the movie has one of my favorite actresses, and I wanted to see all her films. But most likely, this was the movie where I saw her for the first time...

The movie starts with a scene on a rainy night. The police surround a house with a criminal inside. A journalist named Chris arrives at the crime scene in his favorite car. But when the criminal tries to escape from the police, he crashes into Chris's car and destroys it completely. Chris is in despair. While he is trying to recover near his broken car, a businessman in an expensive suit comes up to him. His name is Mr. Trainor. They start a short conversation. Chris complains about his bad luck and his ruined car. The stranger is unusually calm. Then, he takes out some car keys and gives them to the journalist. Chris thinks it is a joke. At first, he even thinks that the man is just lending him a car to get home. But the stranger says it is a gift. Chris expects that the stranger will ask for something in return for the expensive car. He asks, "What's the catch? What do I have to do in return?" The stranger replies that he does not want anything back. The only condition is that one day, Chris must do a favor for someone else.

That is why the movie is called "Pay It Forward."

The movie was directed by Mimi Leder. The script was written by Leslie Dixon, based on the novel of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It is an American drama film from the year 2000, and it is two hours long. The main actors are Kevin Spacey (Trevor's teacher), Helen Hunt (Trevor's mom), and Haley Joel Osment (Trevor). Jay Mohr, James Caviezel, and Jon Bon Jovi also star in the movie. The music was written by composer Thomas Newman, and Oliver Stapleton was the cinematographer.

The film's budget was 40 million dollars, and it made 33 million dollars at the box office. Movie critics said it was too sentimental. However, the audience loved the acting and the deep message about believing in human kindness.

It can be love for parents, friends, children, your job, or even for life. This contest (and this movie) is about this kind of love. On the other hand, "kokhannya" usually means romantic love between two people. This romantic love is also present in the movie.

It all started when Trevor invited a homeless man to his house for dinner...

What type of love was most powerful in the movie?

The movie is about Agape. This is a selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional love. It is the highest form of love. It means caring for others and being loyal without expecting anything in return. It is a love of altruism and care for humanity.

This is the foundation of the whole movie. Trevor's idea to "pay it forward" is based on a pure desire to help complete strangers without any benefit to himself. He gives significant help to a person who truly needs it and cannot help themselves.

This love goes beyond one family or relationship. It starts a chain reaction. It changes the life of a homeless man named Jerry, saves a woman from suicide, and finally brings thousands of people together. The end of the movie, where people gather with candles, proves that this unconditional love is the most powerful force. It is able to live on even after Trevor is gone.

There is also Storge love in the movie. This is the love of a mother for her son. It is everywhere in the film. The mother works two jobs, and she runs to the school to find out what kind of strange homework they are giving there. Trevor’s mom admits her weaknesses and wants to change for her son.

Finally, there is a romantic love between Trevor's mom and his teacher. It starts as a mutual attraction, but it grows into a deep psychological and emotional connection. Both characters have deep emotional and physical wounds. But without Trevor's idea of selfless love, this romantic connection between them would never have happened.

Do you think the love conveyed through this movie is realistic today? And why?

Why is it realistic? Because there are real examples. The idea of unconditional help lives through volunteering, donating blood, and everyday kindness. This is also what the Word of God teaches us. It tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves and to do good to those who cannot repay us. Many people live by these spiritual values, and the "Pay It Forward" movement itself became a real world phenomenon. In different ways, it existed long before the movie, since ancient times.

Of course, in a short movie—even if it is two hours long—the idea of "Pay It Forward" spreads too fast. But it is just a movie, after all.

Also, in today's real world, because of cynicism and a lack of trust, people are often skeptical about selflessness. The world is full of this love, but in reality, it rarely brings an instant Hollywood effect.

In Ukraine, we have a phrase: "suspended coffee." I am not saying we invented it, but I learned about it not long ago. It is when you buy a cup of coffee, but you actually pay for two—one for yourself and one for someone else. For someone who cannot afford to pay. In Ukraine, we even have "suspended" groceries in some stores, where someone pays in advance for another person.

What did the movie teach you about love?

Цьому фільму більше 25 років, і чи він з тих часів коли я дивився багато фільмів)) чи він з однією з моїх улюблених актрис що я захотів подивитися всі фільми з її участю. Та скоріше за все саме тут я з нею познайомитися...

Фільм починається зі сцени де в дощову ніч поліцейські оточили будинок зі злочинцем. На місце злочину прибув журналіст Кріс на своєму улюбленому автомобілі. Але втікаючи від поліцейських злочинець таранить авто Кріса і воно перетворилося на металобрухт. Кріс у розпачі. І поки вріс намагається оговтатися біля своєї понівеченої автівки, до нього підходить солідний чоловік у дорогому костюмі — пан Трейнор. Між ними зав’язується коротка розмова, Кріс бідкається на свою долю та розбиту машину. Незнайомець поводиться дивно спокійно, а потім дістає ключі та простягає їх журналісту. Кріс не розуміє такого жарту, і спочатку навіть гадає можливо той йому лиш позичив машину щоб дістатися додому.... На що незнайомець відповідає, що це просто подарунок. Кріс очікує що незнайомець попросить щось зробити замін дороге «У чому каверза? Що я маю зробити натомість?» Незнайомець відповідає що ніякої відплати не потрібно, не потрібно йому.... І єдина умова — колись Кріс має "віддячити/заплатити" комусь іншому.

Тому й фільм називається "Заплати іншому".

Фільм знятий режисером Мімі Ледер за сценарієм Леслі Діксона на основі однойменного роману Кетрін Раян Гайд. Це американська драматична стрічка 2000 року випуску тривалістю 2 години. Головні ролі виконали Кевін Спейсі(вчитель Тревора), Гелен Гант(мама Тревора) та Гейлі Джоел Осмент(Тревор), а також знялися Джей Мор, Джеймс Кавізел та Джон Бон Джові. Музику до картини написав композитор Томас Ньюман, а оператором виступив Олівер Степлтон.

Бюджет фільму 40 мільйонів доларів, касову збори 33 мільйони. Критики відмітили надмірний сентименталізм, проте глядачі високо оцінили гру акторів та глибокий гуманістичний посил історії про віру в людську доброту.

На уроці суспільствознавства - вчитель Сімонет порушує тему "Ви і світ", як учням жити у цьому світі. Що світ чекає від нас від конкретно тебе? І дає домашнє завдання на цілий рік - придумати як змінити світ і втілити це в життя

діти дивуються але вчитель надихає тим що в кожному з нас купа можливостей змінити світ на краще.

І Тревор вигадує таку схему, що має запустити ланцюгову реакцію. Надати вагому допомогу трьом людям яку вони самі собі надати не можуть. Але ті люди повернуть вдячність не йому, а допоможуть іншим людям.

Але ж це утопія, ідеальний світ - на це Тревор відповідає - "то й що"

Передивляюся вкотре фільм і він знов викликає шквал емоцій - то ж раджу всім його переглянути.

В українській мові є два слова що позначають любов - "любов та кохання" «Любов» має ширше значення: це може бути любов до батьків, друзів, дітей, своєї справи чи навіть до життя. І саме про таку любов цей конкурс(і цей фільм) Натомість «кохання» зазвичай означає романтичне почуття між людьми, і цей вид кохання також присутній у фільмі.

Все почалося з того коли Тревор запросив додому бездомного пообідати...

What type of love was most powerful in the movie?

У фільмі мова йде про Агапе - безкорисливу, жертовну та безумовну любов. Це вищий вид любові, що передбачає турботу та відданість без очікування нічого натомість. Це любов-альтруїзм та турбота про людство.

Це основа всього фільму. Ідея Тревора «заплати іншому» базується на чистому бажанні допомогти абсолютно незнайомим людям без жодної вигоди для себе. Причому суттєвої допомоги якої потребує ця людина і яка сама собі не може так допомогти.

Ця любов виходить за межі однієї родини чи стосунків. Вона запускає ланцюгову реакцію, що змінює життя безхатька Джеррі, рятує жінку від самогубства і зрештою об'єднує тисячі людей. Фінал фільму, де люди збираються зі свічками, доводить, що саме ця безумовна любов виявилася найпотужнішою силою, здатною пережити навіть самого Тревора.

Є у фільмі й любов Storge - це любов матері до сина. Яка також пронизує весь фільм, мати працює на двох роботах, мерщій біжить до школи зясовувати щ о ж за таке дивне домашнє завдання дають у школі. Мама Тревора визнає свої слабкості і прагне змінитися заради сина.

Є у фільмі й романтичне кохання мами Тревора і його вчителя що починається як взаємна привабливість, але переростає у глибоку психологічну та емоційну близькість. Обидва персонажі мають глибокі душевні й фізичні травми. Але якби не ідея Тревора про безкорисну любов то й цієї романтичної закоханості між ними не виникло.

Do you think the love conveyed through this movie is realistic today? And why?

Звісно, така любов абсолютно реалістична, більш того світ буквально пронизаний нею, хоча в нашому повсякденному житті вона часто залишається непомітною. Особливо в світлі негативних вчинків та подій. І здається що світ жорстокий і несправедливий.

Чому це реалістично? Бо є реальні приклади, ідея безумовної допомоги живе через волонтерство, донорство та щоденну доброту. Саме цьому вчить і Слово Боже, закликаючи любити ближнього, як самого себе, та робити добро тим, хто не може нам віддячити. І багато людей діють саме за цими духовними орієнтирами, а сам рух «Pay It Forward» став реальним світовим феноменом. Він існував задовго до виходу фільму ще з древніх часів, в тих чи інших проявах.

Звісно що у короткому фільмі, навіть якщо він триває аж дві години ідея "Передай другому" поширюється занадто швидко, але ж це фільм))

Та й у сучасному реальному світі через цинізм і брак довіри люди часто скептично ставляться до безкорисливості. Світ пронизаний такою любов'ю, просто в реальності вона рідко призводить до миттєвого голлівудського ефекту.

У нас в Україні є такий вислів "підвішена кава", я не кажу що саме у нас це винайшли, але я вперше про це дізнався не так давно. Це коли ти купуєш чашку кави, але насправді купуєш дві - собі і комусь іншому. Кому не буде змоги заплатити. У нас навіть в деяких магазинах є такі "підвішені" продукти. Де хтось платить наперед, для когось.

What did the movie teach you about love?

Фільм не стільки навчив як поглибив та підтвердив переконання в тому, що любов має силу зцілювати глибокі емоційні рани. Будь то боротьба матері, чи болюче минуле вчителя, чи бажання хлопчика виправити світ — любов часто вимагає від нас пожертви. Фільм дійсно спонукає підтримувати рух "Pay it forward" щоб він не згас для тих хто знайомий з ним прямо чи опосередковано.
