Q1: Talk about a movie with an unforgettable twist
Drishyam is one of those movies that keeps you holding your breath till the very end. It’s a Malayalam movie remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn. The story is about Vijay Salgaonkar, a simple cable TV operator who runs a small business and lives a quiet life with his wife and two daughters. He loves watching movies and that habit plays a big role later.
One day, his younger daughter accidentally kills a boy during a fight. The boy happens to be the son of a powerful police officer, Meera Deshmukh. What starts as an accident turns into a nightmare when the police start investigating.
For the whole movie, you think this is a story about a father trying to protect his family from the law. Vijay is not educated, but he is smart. He uses everything he learned from movies to create alibis, hide evidence, and mislead the police. The suspense is so tight that every scene makes you wonder: will they get caught?
But the real unforgettable twist comes at the end.

After years of investigation, the police finally think they have proof. They take Vijay and his family to the place where they buried the body. But when they dig... there’s nothing. No body.
We later find out that Vijay had rebuilt the police station right on top of where the body was buried. He literally buried the truth under the law itself.
That twist changed how I saw the entire movie. A simple man with no power beat the entire system with patience, planning, and love for his family.
Drishyam is proof that the best suspense movies don’t need big action. They just need a smart story and one twist that makes your jaw drop.
Q2: How did the twist change the story?
The twist completely flipped the whole story for me.
For almost the entire movie, I thought Drishyam was about a common man vs the system. I was scared for Vijay and his family. I thought the police would eventually catch them because the truth always comes out.

But when we find out that Vijay built the new police station right on top of where the body was buried, everything changed. Suddenly he wasn’t just running from the law — he was using the law to hide the truth.
The story went from "will they get caught?" to "how did he plan this so perfectly?" It showed that Vijay wasn’t just lucky. He used his love for movies, his attention to detail, and years of patience to create the perfect alibi. The twist turned him from a scared father into a master strategist. It made me realize the movie wasn’t about crime. It was about how far a father will go to protect his family, and how intelligence can beat power.
Q3: What was my reaction to the twist?
I was speechless. Like literally sat with my mouth open for a full minute 😅
When they started digging and found nothing, I got goosebumps. I kept rewinding in my head — "wait, when did he build the police station? Was that shown earlier?" And yes, all the clues were there, but I was too busy feeling tense to notice them.
I felt a mix of shock, respect, and relief. Shock because I never saw it coming. Respect because Vijay outsmarted trained police officers without any education. And relief because his family was finally safe.
That ending stayed with me for days. Drishyam taught me that suspense isn’t about loud music or chase scenes. It’s about a twist so smart that it makes you rewatch the whole movie just to catch the hints. One of the best endings I’ve ever seen.

While Hollywood or other language thrillers put more emphasis on technology and action, Hindi and Malayalam Drishyam have proven that a strong script can create more thrill than any big action scene.
