The Diary Game || [02/06/2026] | Tuesday 2nd June: Hospital Visit, Portrait for My Daughter & Rainy Ride to Ikot Ekpene

Hello Steemians, welcome to my blog. Happy new month once again

‎It has been almost 6 days since I last blogged, and I feel a bit unhappy and drained because of it. Blogging has become part of my routine, so staying away for almost a week felt strange. However, I am reluctantly going to share how my day went on Tuesday, 2nd June. Even though I was tired, I still want to keep my promise of updating you.

My chat with my doctor

‎That Tuesday turned out to be another day filled with a herculean task. I woke up early and made my way to the hospital to get my medication. Visiting the hospital is not something I look forward to, but it has become necessary. One thing I truly enjoy, however, is seeing my doctor. He always takes his time to explain things, and I find it a pleasure staying updated with new innovations in the health world. Each visit reminds me how much medicine and healthcare have improved, and I leave the hospital feeling more informed and encouraged.

The finishing of the portrait

‎After my hospital visit, I headed to a frame store to make a portrait of my foster daughter. I had been planning this for a while because I wanted her to have something special that would last for years. It was a real pleasure seeing the guys at the frame shop again. We had not seen each other in a long time, and the reunion felt warm and exciting. We exchanged greetings, caught up on life, and laughed about old memories. I decided to stay with them while they worked, just to supervise the job and make sure everything came out the way I imagined. Watching the portrait take shape was satisfying, and I was grateful for their skill and patience.

In the bus waiting for the trip

‎By evening, I joined the long bus heading back to Ikot Ekpene. The journey itself was an experience of sweetness, even though I was tired. The bus was full of conversations, music, and the usual hustle of passengers. Halfway through the trip, I was surprised when we drove into heavy rain as we approached Ikot Ekpene. The rain was intense, beating against the windows and turning the roads slippery. When we finally got to the last bus stop, everyone alighted quickly to avoid getting soaked.

‎As soon as I got down, motorcycle riders rushed toward us, calling out for passengers. I joined one of them, and we sped off toward Ikono Local Government Area. The ride was fast, probably 20 to 25 minutes, but it felt longer because of the wet roads and the darkness creeping in. I held on tight, thinking about how quickly a simple trip could turn into an adventure.

‎When I finally got home, the first thing I did was give my daughter her portrait. She is only one year old, so she could not express her happiness with words, but her smile and the way she reached out to touch the frame told me she liked it. Seeing her reaction made all the stress of the day worth it. A parent’s joy is often found in these small, silent moments.

My dinner

‎By then the day was getting dark, and I felt hungry. I quickly prepared a pot of vegetable and okra soup with Eba. The smell filled the kitchen and reminded me of home. After eating, I relaxed for a while, then lay on my bed and began jotting down how my day went. Writing helps me process everything, from the hospital visit to the rain and the joy of giving my daughter her gift.

‎If I may ask, how was your day? I would love to hear your own story in the comments.

Thanks for going through my blog and post. I really appreciate that*
