Explain in detail the term irrigation system
The irrigation system is the process that normally occurs during the absence of rainfall, where farmers apply water to the crops that are planted on the soil so that food can be surplus in order to feed the masses.
The irrigation system plays a big role in agriculture because if the plant or crops do not have water, such plants can die as a result of this; they will stop to grow. So if there is no water to grow plants, it may affect humans and animals, and that's why intelligent farmers develop irrigation systems to water plants. Therefore, irrigation is necessary in areas where there is not enough water or a lack of rainfall.
In fact, we have different types of irrigation that farmers use according to how they can afford it:
• Surface irrigation: this type of irrigation method where the water distribute by gravity through the nearby river they connected to.
• Drip irrigation: is used by farmers where water drops directly to the root of the crops with the help of a hose or pipe.
• Sprinkler irrigation: This occur when the water coming out from the pipe and distribute around the plant area as if the rain is falling. And this method is mainly used for crop like corn.
• Manual irrigation: this type of irrigation are commonly use within the community where smallholder farmers practice it in their gardens by using bucket or calabash to pour water to their plant.
What is the importance of irrigation system?
➡️ Irrigation system is more beneficial to the crops because the land we used irrigation for are look more healthier and fertile than land that are not irrigated.
➡️ It also allow the farmers to make profit to take care of their family and this especially occur when the crops yield through the process of irrigation system.
➡️ Irrigation system provides availability of water to used for the crops in order to ensure good quality of the crops.
➡️ Irrigation help the farmers during the absence of rain so that they can have multiple crops growing annually.
