Explain in detail the term intercropping

intercropping is the agricultural method of growing multiple crop species planted on the same field especially during a single season. the crops that the farmers normally interplant are maize, guinea corn, cucumber, beans, cassava and more.

Although I don't know this farming techniques before untill I engaged in farm activities in the last two years where I planted guinea corn. When the plant gradually growing I interplanting the crop to another area in order to yield productivity.

Intercropping or interplanting are sustainable agriculture technique we apply in garden to boost overall system biodiversity to ensure that ecological have interaction with different crops species. This is the type of polyculture which enhanced soil fertility in our farm that we used hard labor to cultivate

• Intercropping play a crucial role in farmland because it prevent pest from destroying our crop or stop them from spreading from one crops to another which show that their will be reduction of pesticides.

• There is risk reduction, in the sense that if one crop dies due to pest, the other crop will survive which enable farmers to earn stable income in order to take care of themselves and their family.

• Intercropping also increase productivity because their will be abundant of resources that will be earn in the farmland compare to monoculture.

• Intercropping is effective in agriculture practice because it allow the mixing of crop to be planted together without further arrangements as well as to promote nutrient of the soil in order to look healthier.
