Agricultural land is more than just crops
Agricultural land isn't just fields of crops. Although these fields may appear to paint the complete picture of agricultural fields, that isn't the case. Land for raising crops can also be grazing land, pasture, rangeland and land which livestock use for the duration of their lives. That is also agricultural land. In fact, that has made up approximately 70% of the world's agricultural land, including land that is pasture and land that is used to grow crops to feed livestock.
Animal agriculture's contribution to agricultural land use is very big and omitting it is just a lack of understanding.
Animal agriculture is a big contributor, even in the discussion of land, food and the climate crops and plants are the focus of discussion. The land that animal agriculture uses is significantly greater than the land used for crops. And infact the land that is used to raise livestock is greater than the land used for any other activity.
Without the information, the statistics become very misleading. Even their maps or reports that show agricultural land use that do not include livestock grazing, they are not even giving a complete picture.
Agricultural land and cropland are not use of the same term, it is not even the same.
When trying to check or analyze land use, feed crops that are attributed to animal agriculture should be too and it should be looked at grazing land use and the other practices as well.
