Pick and Write [Contour farming]👉#18

How are you all my friends? I hope you are well and having a nice day. Friends, today I want to write about an agricultural method that has changed not only the lives of farmers but also the entire hill farming system. The topic is Contour farming. So let's discuss this topic a little today. So if you read this article today carefully, you will get a lot of ideas and will like it.

The incident happened a long time ago, when I got the opportunity to go to the hilly area for the first time. Many things seemed new. What caught my eye the most was that the land there was not cultivated in straight lines like ordinary flat land. Rather, crops were being cultivated in curved lines following the slopes of the hills. At first, I did not understand the matter properly. Later, after talking to some local farmers, I came to know that this is called contour farming.

Contour farming is an agricultural method where cultivation is done on hills or sloping land following the natural slope of the land. That is, the land is divided into lines of equal height, and crops are cultivated there, so that water does not easily go down and the soil is not washed away. This method is mainly used for soil conservation and water management.

I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with local farmers. They told me that earlier, when they generally cultivated in straight lines, the biggest problem during the rainy season was water. During heavy rains, the water would go down very quickly and wash away the fertile part of the soil along with it. This gradually made the land barren, and the crop production decreased.

But after introducing contour farming, they noticed a lot of changes. Now the water no longer goes down directly, but is trapped in different steps of the land and is gradually absorbed into the soil. This maintains the moisture of the land, and the crops grow well for a long time.

Another important thing is to prevent soil erosion. The problem of soil erosion is very common in hilly areas. But when the land is cultivated according to the natural shape of the land, the speed of the water decreases a lot. This reduces the pressure on the soil and keeps the land stable. This is beneficial not only for the crop but also for the entire environment.

I talked to a farmer for a long time. He said very simply, no matter how hard they worked before, the yield was not always as expected. But after using contour farming, they are getting much better results from the same land. One thing was very clear in his words—if you know the right method, good production is possible even on less land.

From my own observations, I feel that this method is not just a technique of agriculture, but an intelligence of working with nature. We often try to change nature, but contour farming teaches us to understand the laws of nature and adapt to them.

Another big advantage of this method is water conservation. Water is a big problem in many areas. Due to contour farming, water is not lost quickly, but can be retained in the land. This allows the crop to survive for a long time, and farmers can reduce their dependence on water to some extent.

Finally, Contour farming is a method that helps improve agriculture, the environment and human life, all three together. It teaches us that the best solution is to follow nature's rules rather than go against them.

When I see those hilly lands, I feel that if people understand and work with nature, even difficult places can be made productive and beautiful.
