SLC31-W1: Shop & Share Challenge - Visit a Small Local Shop

Little things most times adds to the beautiful colours of life we enjoy most times.

The Shop of Mr Antony Ihenacho

For a while now I have been living a very small neighborhood where I discovered a shop owned by a man called mr Antony. His shop is just along the Road located in Akabo in Imo state just by the side of Assemblies of God church Akabo.

Mr Anthony doesn't just sell provisions, like beverages and biscuits no, he sells food stuff too like rice beans, spaghetti, palm oil and many other things, presently he has also added foot simple footwears like slippers.

His shop is just some steps away from my apartment, infact across the road. I buy virtually what I need from there. Things like water, drinks and bread.

Mr Anthony is a very hard working man, he opens his sip as early as 7am, then goes to the bakery to get his bread and he does school run at the same time then he comes back to the shop fully by 8:30am. This goes on every day except on Sundays. He closes his shop by 10pm from Monday's to Saturdays. And some Sundays he opens by 2pm and closes by 8am.

Mr Anthony arranges his goods outside the shops, he drops some on the ground while he made space for other goods on a wooden shelf made outside. Some are hanged up like things in sackets.

Why I chose to Review Mr Anthony'shop

The reason I chose Mr Anthony's shop is not just close to my house but i am amazed at the prices of the things he sells. He doesn't hype price, he is not interested in making so much gains unlike other surrounding shops there.

He does mind making little gains as long as the business is moving he is fine. One day he told me that in a cartoon of beverage he sells what he gets a gain is 100 naira, I was really shocked that day.

His sincerity in business was what made me chose the shop. I really wish that more people will see his shop and come to patronize him. He is a good man, infact most people around calls him pastor Because of his goodness.

That's also the reason why I prefer to buy from him as always.

The Prices of item I purchased

I was craving for spaghetti, it's been a while so I decided to go buy it from the local store, I saw the supermarket just opposite but I refused and moved on to mr Anthony's shop.

When I got there, there were many customers buying from him so I had to wait for my turn, well I loved it because it gave me the opportunity to take my pictures and make videos without any one observing me.

I saw a very beautiful slippers and I decided to buy it for my niece since it wasn't my size. Before I went on to buy the spaghetti and some things I needed to cook it.

what I think the Shop owner which is mr Anthony needs to do to expand his business

Mr Anthony shop is not lacking patronage at all because it's on the Road, easily accessible and his honesty helps keeps his customers yes.

But all the while I have been patronizing mr Anthony, I noticed that his shop is now too small and feeling jam packed, he needs more space, I feel he should rent the next shop closer to him to enable him expand the shop in other to accommodate his goods and serve us better.

I also notice that he is usually the only person at the shop, with too many customers at the same time, if he can employ one more hand or get one more person to come help him at the shop, it will ease the stress of having to wait till it gets to once turn. Sometimes some customers just get tired of waiting and tells him they will come back.

Another improvement that would help is having multiple pos machines, he only has one. Sometimes there is network issues in that pos which makes people wait for a longer time at his shop. But if he has several from other banks, when there is a network issue in one he can ask them to send to another Pos of his.

My shopping Experience

I already mentioned a part of my shopping experience. Normally I buy simple items from this shop. And each time I go there, me Anthony always attends to me with a calm cheerful looks.

He greets me or responds to my greetings then ask for what I want to buy, sometimes he even starts a conversation either about the issue of electricity in the neighborhood or about politics.

After gisting, he attended to me swiftly with a smile on his face and a thank you for patronage on his lips.
