SC-S33/W4-Movie Diaries challenge| Rewrite a movie ending|La La Land
1-Pick a movie with an ending you don't like?
La La Land is 2016 American musical, romantic, having stunning visual style, emotional movie. I don't like its end.
Ending In Film:
In the original ending, Mia and Sebastian love each other but choose their careers over being together. We get that beautiful "what if" montage, and then they go their separate ways. It’s artistic, but it left me feeling empty. After watching them fight for each other the whole movie, I wanted them to at least try.
2-Rewrite the ending in your own terms?
After Sebastian’s jazz club opens and Mia’s play becomes a hit, they run into each other 5 years later — not at an audition, but at Sebastian’s club. Mia comes in with her husband and daughter. She’s happy, but there’s still that spark.
After the show, Sebastian walks her out. No big speech. He just says, "You were right. We both made it."
She smiles and says, "We did."
Then she leaves. But this time, a few weeks later, Sebastian gets a letter. It’s from Mia. She’s starting a theater program for kids and wants him to compose the music. The movie ends with them working together again — not as a couple, but as creative partners. And maybe... there’s still a chance for more.
3-Explain why you think your own ending fits in better?
The original ending was about sacrifice and "real life isn’t a fairy tale." I get that.
But I think my version keeps the realism AND gives hope. It shows that you can chase your dreams and still keep the people who matter. Life isn’t always all-or-nothing. Sometimes love changes form — from romance to respect, to partnership.
This ending feels more grown-up to me. It says you can lose each other for a while, grow, and still find your way back to each other in a new way. That’s the kind of ending I needed to see.
That's all from today's contest and I have tried to compiled all the task given in the contest. At the end I would like to invite @roohiasif99, @dasudi and @chant for the contest. Thanks for giving time to my post
Best regards
