"SLC32-W1" // Steem Expedition 2.0 Everyday Routes. The popular meeting place.
This is a sports field located in Akwanga which is directly opposite Ola Girls School Akwanga. This sports field is owned by Ola but given to the community to be used as a football centre in the community.
The place is where young boys usually gather to play football and most of the time football matches are held in this field because it has a large landscaping. The place is very easy to access which from the picture you can see a main road that leads to the place.
To access this place you can take an Okada and tell the rider that you want to stop at Ola and you will be carried to the place, where you will come across the field even before reaching your destination. Also, you can trek to the field where you are staying within the town or you can take a ride to the field.

What kind of people bring this space to life, and is there an iconic character in it?
The kind of people that bring this space to life are men and football lovers especially the youths in the community. It is mostly youths in the community that comes to this space to play football. The iconic character in it is running where a player will carry a football and start running against his opponent to score a goal.
When you visit, are you the type to talk and interact, or do you prefer to be a silent observer?
I am the type that likes interacting and also a silent observer, and as I reached the field of saw my neighbour in the field. Immediately my neighbour noticed me he came to me and that was how we both started talking.
What is your most special memory from your childhood or youth tied to this place? Or an anecdote that happened there.
My most special memory from my childhood tied to this place was when my mother sent me to a field just like this one to call my elder that left the things he was supposed to do in the field to play football.
As I went to call my elder he came out and bribed me with money to tell my mother that he was not in the field playing football, and that I should say he went to lessons. It sounds funny and it always reminds me how men love and cherish football.
In one word or short phrase, how would you define the spirit of this place?
The love for football ⚽
I would define the spirit of this place as the spirit that unites and brings thes the youths of Akwanga together. It is a place where love and support are shared and it is a place for sport.
