The old steam locomotive, one of the main symbols of Bangladesh's railway heritage, is located at the CRB in Chittagong. The construction of the building at the CRB began in 1887 and this old steam engine was preserved at the CRB in 1899. However, today this steam engine has become known as an attractive monument for tourists, those curious about old history and photograph.

To go to this CRB, known as the lungs of Chittagong, one can use rickshaws, bikes, CNG, buses. One of the main seven road intersections of Chittagong is located next to the CRB. Therefore, any visitor can easily reach this steam engine to see it. The transportation cost will be relatively low. I went here on Friday, July 31st to enjoy the afternoon of the holiday.

"CRB" refers to the Central Railway Building area in Chittagong where this steam engine is stored.

It is known as one of the earliest steam locomotives in the country. It was used for passenger and freight transport in the early days of the railway line. Later, when modern diesel and electric locomotives were introduced, it was retired. It is currently being displayed as a historical monument at the CRB. This steam locomotive has played an important role in the country's railway communication for a long time. So that future generations can learn about the ancient history of the country's railways, it has been kept for display to visitors for many years, which has now become one of the main attractions for visitors.

Many years ago, steam-powered engines of this type were used to transport passengers and goods on various railways in the country. This huge engine made of iron and steel is a unique example of the engineering prowess of our country's past. Once this engine was powered by steam using coal and water. It is no longer in operation. But even today it is a very popular place for history buffs, tourists and photography enthusiasts. I myself have taken my children to show this historical monument several times.

This steam engine, preserved in the green-gray environment of CRB, takes visitors to the glorious history of our country's rail communication. Since this steam engine has been used in rail communication for a long time many years ago. So a lot of time has passed since then. As a result, the engine has rusted in several places, although it has not been properly preserved, as a result of which it has now become fragile in several places.

You will learn about the history of steam engines and how these engines used to run on steam power using coal and water. At the same time, you will get an idea about the heritage of Bangladesh Railways and the development of the country's rail communication system. You will be able to see the chimney, boiler, wheels, driver's cabin and other parts of the engine up close. You will also get an idea about the structure of these steam engines and their functioning.

There is definitely a need to preserve the old steam engine. It is just an old train that carries the heritage and history of our country.This steam engine is a witness to the ancient history of Bangladesh's rail communication, which has historical value.Preserving national heritage increases people's interest in the history of the country and enriches it.By displaying it, students, researchers and engineering students will be able to get a real idea of ​​​​old technology. Properly preserving this engine can attract domestic and foreign tourists. As a result, the local economy can be further enriched.

The engine should be regularly maintained and cleaned of rust. Anti-rust coating can be applied to the metal parts. If a protective canopy is built, the engine will be protected from rain, sun and humidity. This will reduce engine damage. It is possible to preserve this historical asset for a long time through proper maintenance, security measures and increasing public awareness. This will allow future generations to learn about the glorious past of the country's railways and enrich the heritage of Bangladesh.
