Some places may look like ordinary points on a map, but their importance in our lives cannot be measured by a map. For me, my village home in Thakurgaon, Bangladesh, is one such place.

Life in Dhaka is busy and often mechanical. There is traffic, noise, crowds, work, and constant pressure. But whenever I leave Dhaka for my village, I feel as if I am slowly entering another world. The noise of the city disappears, and I find myself surrounded by green paddy fields, trees, ponds, narrow village roads, birds, and fresh air.

The greatest beauty of my village is not any particular building or landmark. For me, its peaceful natural environment is its greatest attraction.

1. Where is this place located, how can visitors reach it, and when did you visit it?

My village is located in Thakurgaon District in northern Bangladesh. It is a peaceful area surrounded by natural beauty and traditional rural life. I have added the exact location of my village to Steem Atlas so that anyone interested can find it on the map.

Visitors coming from Dhaka can travel to Thakurgaon by bus or train and then use local transportation to reach the village. As you move away from the town, the busy urban environment gradually disappears and the surroundings become greener.

I visited my beautiful home village on August 9, 2026, to enjoy and document its rural beauty. However, my connection with this place is not limited to a single visit. I have been connected to this village since childhood, and it has always been an important part of my life.

2. What personal experience or event made this place so meaningful, and how did it influence or change you?

The biggest reason my village home is special to me is that I feel free from the pressure of city life whenever I come here.

Living in Dhaka means being surrounded by traffic noise, crowds, work pressure, and the constant rush of time. After spending days in such an environment, we sometimes do not even realize that our minds need a little rest.

But whenever I leave Dhaka and return to my village, everything feels different.

In the morning, instead of looking at concrete buildings, I see green trees and fields. Looking outside, I can see paddy fields. Ducks swim in ponds, farmers work in their fields, and village roads pass through the shade of trees. Breathing the fresh air gives me a feeling of peace that is difficult to find in the city.

My village has taught me that happiness is not always found in a busy life. Sometimes slowing down, being close to nature, and spending some quiet time with yourself are also important parts of life.

That is why my village home is more than just a place where I stay. It is a place where I find mental peace.

3. What historical, cultural, natural, or social significance does this place have for the local community?

The greatest wealth of my village is its natural environment and traditional rural lifestyle.

People here are still closely connected with nature and agriculture. There are paddy fields, different crops, ponds, trees, and fruit gardens all around the village. The daily lives of local people are closely connected to the changing seasons.

The village becomes especially beautiful during the lychee season. The lychee gardens become filled with bunches of fruit, creating a festive feeling throughout the area.

The ponds and other water bodies are also an important part of village life. Ducks moving through the water, gentle ripples, trees, and greenery together create a natural rural ecosystem.

For me, this way of life is one of the greatest cultural and social values of my village. Nature here is not simply something to look at, it is a part of everyday life.

4. What can visitors see, learn, or experience here that makes this place worth visiting?

If someone visits my village, they do not need to look for a major tourist attraction. The entire village itself is a natural experience.

A visitor can see:

In a large city like Dhaka, we often see nature as something limited to parks or weekend destinations. In a village, however, nature is part of everyday life.

That is one of the most important things my village has taught me.

5. If someone were planning to visit this place, what advice or recommendations would you give to help them make the most of their visit?

If someone wants to visit my village, I would tell them not to try to experience it like a city. The best way to enjoy a village is to slow down.

You can walk along the village roads in the morning or afternoon, spend some time beside the paddy fields, sit near a pond, and simply observe nature. If you visit during lychee season, I would definitely recommend exploring the lychee gardens.

Another important thing is to respect the local environment and people. Visitors should ask for permission before entering agricultural land or private gardens and should avoid doing anything that could harm nature.

In my opinion, the rainy and winter seasons are especially beautiful for enjoying the village environment. However, if you want to see the lychee gardens at their best, visiting during lychee season is the ideal choice.

Most importantly, instead of staying busy with your phone all the time, take some time to simply experience nature. Perhaps then you will understand why an ordinary village can be so special to someone.

The Place That Changed Me

My village home may not be one of the most famous tourist destinations in Bangladesh. There is no huge building, amusement park, or luxurious resort here.

Yet this is one of the most important places in my life. Dhaka has taught me how to stay busy, while my village has taught me how to stay calm.

In the busy life of Dhaka, we often forget many simple things while constantly chasing time. But when I return to my village, it feels as if time has slowed down. The air feels different. The sky seems bigger. Even the greenery seems greener.

In the city, we often look for places where we can enjoy fresh air. But in my village, I can find that simply by walking along a village road.

The concrete city of Dhaka has taught me about the speed of life, but my village has taught me about the beauty of slowing down.

For me, “Beyond the Map” does not simply mean a place outside a map. It means the feelings and memories hidden inside a place, things that cannot be explained by a GPS location. My village home is exactly that kind of place. It is not just the name of my village. It is my address of peace.
