Introduction

Every town or city has a place that represents its identity. It may be a busy town square, a historic landmark, a famous street, a central market, or a public space where people gather every day.

For the first week of Beyond the Map, participants are invited to showcase the heart of their town or city through Steem Atlas, original photography, and authentic storytelling.

Your goal is not only to show where the place is, but also to explain why it is considered the heart of your community and what makes it special for both local residents and visitors.

What Participants Should Capture

Choose one central place that best represents your town or city.

You may capture:

The central area of your town or city
A landmark that symbolizes your town or city
The main gathering place for local people
The commercial, cultural, or administrative heart of your town
A historic place that defines the identity of your community

📸 Your photographs should present the atmosphere, architecture, daily activities, and importance of the location.

Questions Participants Must Answer

Where is this place located, how can visitors reach it, and when did you visit it?
Why is this place considered the heart or symbol of your town or city?
What historical, cultural, or economic significance does this place have for the local community?
How does this place contribute to the daily life and identity of your town or city?
If someone were visiting your town for the first time, why would you recommend this place as their first destination?

Writing Guidelines

Tell readers why this place represents your town or city.
Share your personal experience and observations.
Explain the cultural, historical, or social importance of the location.
Include opening and closing times if applicable.
Write meaningful captions for every photograph.
Organize your post with clear headings and proper markdown.

Submission Rules

Publish your post in the Story On Steem Community
Your publication must contain at least 500 words
Participants may write in any language.
Share at least 10 original photographs with meaningful captions.
Add at least one video (45 seconds–1 minute).
Correct Google Maps link and Steem Atlas pin are required.
Review a location that you have not reviewed previously.
Include the actual date of your visit.
Do not reuse photographs from previous publications.

You may set 10%-25% beneficiaries to @steem-atlas.
Only one entry per participant.
Invite at least three friends to participate.
Leave your post link in the comment section of this contest post.
Maintain good markdown formatting and presentation.

Photography Guidelines

Use clear, high-quality original photographs.
Keep all photographs related to the same location.
Capture both wide-angle and close-up views.

Contest Duration

📅 The contest will start on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 00:00 UTC and will remain open until Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 23:59 UTC.

🏆 The 4 best entries will be selected based on originality, photography quality, storytelling, and proper Steem Atlas usage.
