A Frame With a Story

I think that every frame captured by the camera lens has its own story. Some frames simply offer beautiful views, while some frames awaken a lot of old memories and emotions stored in the chest. Today, July 3, 2026, on a lazy afternoon, my mind suddenly became anxious. Without knowing it, I went to that familiar place in the Manikadi Amtala area of ​​​​Dhaka, which is located right next to our local Jame Mosque.

1. Where is this place located, and when did you visit it?

---

Today, July 3, 2026, on a lazy afternoon, my mind suddenly became bored and anxious. In the pursuit of life, we have to go to so many new places, but in the midst of our busy schedule, when I unknowingly stood in front of this piece of my familiar soil, right next to our local Jame Mosque in the Manikadi Amtala area of ​​Dhaka, a strange nostalgia and mixed emotions played in my heart.

Standing in the midst of this familiar frame around me and rotating the camera lens with my mobile in my hand, the authentic history of this soil that has changed over the years was floating before my eyes, even amidst the hustle and bustle around me. The wheel of time has turned a lot, and the appearance around has also changed a lot, but for me, it is not just an empty place or land. Rather, it is one of the best chapters of my life and a living document of the memory of my late father. Even though the surroundings have changed, those old days are still as bright and alive as before on the canvas of memory.

2. Why is this place meaningful or memorable to you?

Every speck of dust on this land is associated with my childhood, adolescence, and, most importantly, my late father's memories. When my father was alive, this place was the heart of our entire family. There was once a huge pond here. I have no idea how many times I have walked by the pond, holding my father's hand, and how many stories I have told. When my father was alive, we used this place in various ways, keeping it beautiful. Today, my father is gone (May Allah grant him paradise), but every corner of this land still feels like the touch of his hard work and love, which has made it unforgettable for me.

3. What special experience or emotional moment is connected to this place?

---

The most beautiful and emotional experience was when we built a collective farm here. In that huge pond, we used to raise fish fry with great enthusiasm with our father, and we would all eat fish food every afternoon. On one side of the pond was our poultry farm, and on the fertile soil around it, my father cultivated various types of fresh vegetables with his own hands. The sight of green vegetables and ducks swimming in the blue water of the pond was a heavenly feeling. Those busy afternoons spent with my father are the best experiences of my life, which I will never forget.

But time is cruel. Today, due to the demands of reality, that pond has been filled. That pond and farm, which were intertwined with my father's memories, no longer exist anywhere. In the future, the construction of our new house will begin here, due to which only dirt and sand have been thrown across the entire field. This transformation of a familiar childhood before my eyes and my father's memories being buried under the sand makes me very emotional.

4. How do your photographs help tell this story?

My photos taken this afternoon are not staged frames, but tell the true story of the silent transformation of this place. For example, my photo clearly shows how a lively farm is now being lost under concrete to build houses, where piles of dirt and sand have been piled up. Again, on the other side of the field, although the pond is filled, the place has not become completely lifeless; local boys have gathered here in groups to chat since the afternoon.

The most touching scene is captured in this frame, where a small child is seen playing with a paper boat in the little water that has accumulated from the rain. This frame brings my own lost childhood to life before my eyes. Also, in the 1-minute and 4-second video I made, the quiet afternoon, the flying airplanes, and the moment of the madrasa students playing football help to portray my entire story as 100% real and living evidence.

5. If someone else visited this place, what message or feeling would you hope they experience?

---

To an ordinary person from outside, it may seem like just an ordinary empty field with sand and gravel or a place for boys to hang out in the afternoon. But I want anyone who ever visits this place to feel that—Change is the only law of the world, but memories are immortal. Where sand and gravel lie today, there once was a family's dream and a father's love intertwined. I want them to realize this deep truth of life by looking at the change in the surroundings: that even if the external appearance changes, the pull of the soil and the spiritual love within the person never fades.
