Many things in my community have been neglected, which the government doesn't seem to show concern about, but it still uses most of the things, especially the roads, during the campaign.

Where is this hidden place located?

This hidden place is located at Sabon Wakama community in Akwanga.

Sabon Wakama community is a village that is under the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, and it is where my grandmother is from. I visited my maternal home and discovered that the road, which was once under construction some years ago, has been neglected by the government, and still, politicians are passing through the road for their campaign activities.

Why do you consider it a hidden or lesser-known place?

I consider it a hidden place and a lesser-known place because the road is in a local community with less concern from the government. The place isn't in a well-known town or close to a developed place, and being in a local community, it has become a lesser-known place.

I think the people who were handling the construction forgot about it because the road is in a local community, where today I saw politicians and their supporters passing through for their political campaigns.

Also, it is lesser-known because there is no important government or private infrastructure at the place, which would have created awareness about the place.

What makes this location special or unique?

The location is special because the prominent King lives in the community. One of the oldest kings and a well-known king in the state is from the community, and it is the reason why the vehicles that were passing through the place were seen as they were all driving to the King's house to pay homage to the King.

What did you discover or learn while visiting this place?

I discovered that no matter how local a community is, the community would be known one day, especially in Nigeria, where during campaign periods, politicians can go anywhere to campaign, which is exactly what I discovered in this place. I believe those who visited this place for the campaign would have pledged and promised to work on the place if they were elected into office.

What story or feeling do you think this place expresses through your photographs?

The story that I think this place expresses through my photographs is the neglect of the host community that has been experiencing and suffering from this bad road for a long time now. It is about how the government can make promises and fail, and how contractors abandon projects in the local community, which I felt pity for the community.
