The Dairy Game: The Mystery Behind My Meter. 31st , July, 2026.

I woke up early this morning and started my day with a short prayer. When I looked around my apartment, I noticed there was no electricity. However, the energy bulbs in my apartment indicated that there was power in the compound. I stepped outside to confirm, and to my surprise, every other flat had electricity except mine.

I immediately checked my meter remote and saw that I still had more than enough electricity units. This left me confused because everything seemed to be in order. My mind went back to the electrical work carried out yesterday when the electricity officials repaired our meter and fixed the earthing problem. Since they had also left some of my sockets damaged, I began to wonder if something they had done had affected my apartment again.

I called one of the electricity officials and explained the situation. I told him that every other flat had electricity while mine did not, despite having enough units on my meter. He assured me that he would come around by 10 a.m. to inspect the problem.

While waiting, I looked through my window and noticed a few neighbors gathered outside discussing something. One of them was holding a meter remote, so I decided to join them. After exchanging greetings, one of my neighbors explained that her meter remote showed no electricity units, yet she still had power in her apartment. I then shared my own experience, that I had enough units but no electricity.

Someone suggested that there might have been a mix-up when the officials worked on our meters the previous day. Since everything was done at the same time, it was possible that our meter remotes had been mistakenly exchanged. We were not certain, but the explanation seemed reasonable.

A few moments later, the mystery was finally solved. As soon as electricity units were loaded into the other remote, my apartment immediately came back to life. When the electricity official arrived, he checked everything and confirmed that the mistake was from their side. They had accidentally swapped our meter remotes. I had been using my neighbor's remote, while she had been using mine all along.

Earlier that morning, I had already recharged electricity, believing I was loading my own meter. Unknown to me, I had actually credited my neighbor's meter. By the time we discovered the mistake, she had already gone out. When she returned, I explained everything to her. At first, she was reluctant to accept what had happened, but after we discussed it properly, she understood and refunded the money I had spent.

It was a stressful and exhausting experience. Watching everyone else enjoy electricity while my apartment remained in darkness made me fear that another serious electrical fault had occurred. Thankfully, the mystery was eventually solved, the mistake was corrected, and everything returned to normal.

I am grateful that the issue was resolved peacefully. What seemed like a major electrical fault turned out to be a simple mix-up. It was a reminder that sometimes the biggest worries have the simplest explanations.
