Graphics by Manuelhooks...Beautiful Butterfly
My butterfly Art 🦋
For today's art challenge, I’ll be a butterfly as a 3D decoration for my kids' room. I got the idea from the beautiful decorations I see in their classroom at school. To bring this 3D craft to life, here are the materials I’ll need:.

| Drawing Procedure |

Step 1 [Preparing the Canvas]
For this project, I used an A4 sheet of paper folded in half, whhich mae it look like an A5. With orientation being landscape Each half formed a wing, and the center fold became the body of the butterfly.
Step 2 [Sketching and Structure]
I drew half of the butterfly on one side of the folded paper as a guide. This method helps with proper scaling and symmetry.
I started the sketch with the upper wing, which is usually bigger, then moved to the lower wings.
Step 3 [Carvings Out]
Once the sketch was done, I carefully cut out the butterfly outline with a sharp blade. This is where I had to be extra careful — one wrong cut and I may have to start all over.
I traced the outline again on the cut-out wings and added more details.
Now it was time to start the painting process. My choice of colors was red, yellow, and green — at least, that was the original plan.
Step 4 [Painting]
I brought out my watercolors and used a cotton swab to paint the carved butterfly. The red color went on first, on some parts of the upper wing and a little at the lower wings too.
The red was followed by yellow, I painted ony some parts of the lower wings yellow, a small porton.
The green paint was hard to open. I put in a reasonable amount of effort trying to open the green can, and ended up going for blue instead.
Blue wasn’t my first choice, but I came to love it.
After adding blue to the butterfly, this what it become.
Step 4 [Finishing]
The butterfly "flew" to the window, then somehow ended up in my kids' room, perched on the window blind right among the flowers.
My Opinion About Crafting? |
|---|
I really love this piece. I made this butterfly with paper, colours, and even cotton buds for the antenna. It represents beauty and transformation to me.
Who I like to gift this piece of art. |
|---|
This butterfly will be gifted to my kids as a decoration in their room. I know rhey will love it when they see it petched on their window.
Now the butterfly is ready for a photo shoot.
It's time to take a selfie
