The Diary Game || 20-06-23 || Going for Entrepreneurial work experience and carrying out a practical in the laboratory

On a Tuesday morning, my coursemates and I embarked on the journey to where we were posted for our Entrepreneurial work experience which is a general course in my institution. My unit was divided into groups of two and posted into different skill acquisition centers to learn a skill as it's part of our assessment.

My coursemates and I were posted to a workshop that specializes on fashion and design, beading, weaving, knitting, catering services, cake baking and the likes of them. We were posted there last week and yesterday was when we resumed. We were of capacity as shown in the picture below. Not only my department but other departments were there, making the place rowdy. Anyways, majority were absent. Just a few were there. At first, I was I was confused of where the place is, not until I saw a guide on my school group.

The lady in charge as shown above is quite friendly. The crowd which was actually 30% of people posted there motivated her to group us so as to make learning comfortable. She sought the time and day we would be free and promised to give us feedback in no time....

Since it was actually our resumption day, she did the basics with us and also carried out a practical using the sewing machine of which we followed suite.

During the Introductory class

With the capacity, I choose to squeeze myself in front so as to hear the lady well. Her attention was distracted by my dressing. I was on corporate with a black hoodie. I actually wanted going somewhere else after the class and I can't put on a shirt without a tie as it has become part of me. She asked of my name and I humbly told her . Others attention were glued to my dressing too that they started called Pastor and Preacher

It was fun though. We made jest of ourselves before the class commenced.

The lady began by taking our minds to basic measurements in fashion and design. We were asked series of questions to make the class an interactive session. This is the note I took while she was explaining......

Measurements for shirt	Shoulder, Burst, the length, and sleeve
Measurements for short	Length, Waist, Hips etc
Measurements for Skirt	Length, waist, hips, circumference and the likes of them.
Measurements for Blouse	BP..... Breast point, MP..... Middle point, UB..... Under Breast, RS..... Round sleeve, SL..... Sleeve, HL..... Half length, H.... Hips, UA....Upper Arm, SH

The down part of a gown be it blouse or senator is called circumference....... Note: For wrapper blouse, there's no joining or half length.

• Taking measurements for senator gown is from shoulder to burst to waist and then to knee.

Note: Measurements for ;

• Skirt .... Divide by 4
• Shorts by 2
• Shirt by 4
• Blouse or Gown by 4

For the senator gown as she was sewing, when measuring the burst, the actual measurement must be divided by 2 and then divided by 2 again....For instance, 38 is the actual measurement, it should divided by 2 and should be divided again by 2 to get the accurate measurement and then one and the half sewing allowance be added.

This would have been more clear if i share some pictures but I took none. She showed us how and I actually understood it because I've had experience on this before.

She then told us to take turns in moving the wheels of a sewing machine after she showed us how. Most tried but couldn't. Some did learn and corrected themselves. Yet others did it by luck. These are pictures of my school mates paddling a sewing machine's wheel.

After Class

After the class, I personally took pictures with my colleagues to show others that were absent that we were actually present and that they shouldn't sleep on it.

We left for another practical class in school. This was more hectic that the entrepreneurial work experience.....I felt like giving up but there was actually no give up button to press.

I just had to press forward till 6pm in the evening. It was easy though but important. That's how my day ended. I wrapped it up with spiritual activities that made my night. .....
