WHAT KIND OF GUY TAPES A GoPro TO AN ARROW AND THEN SHOOTS IT?...

"I'll take 'Papa-Pepper' for $500, Alex."
In a quest for originality, creativity, and peculiarity, I recently tapes a GoPro to one of my bowfishing arrows and then went out shooting suckers in the stream that night. I made some GIFs of a few shots, so this post might take a little bit to load, but it may be worth the wait. Also, I used some larger text between the GIFs so that I could space them out a little more, so it should be less distracting without multiple GIFs stacked on top of one another. Enjoy!
THE "GoPro ARROW" FOOTAGE

When I got this idea, I was still relatively new at bowfishing. Even now I'm barely over a week in, and at the time I only had a couple of days' worth of experience. With the GoPro being so large, I had to tape it close to the "business end" of the arrow than I would have preferred, plus these were some shorter shots anyway. The main thing I wanted to avoid was slamming the GoPro into the rocks and breaking it, so thankfully that part worked out.

As you may be able to tell, the GoPro did affect the balance of the arrow a bit, and it took some getting use to. Even though they are misses, I like these first two GIFs because you can see the suckers swimming around the arrow after I miss. It's an interesting perspective that many will never get to see.

Hitting the fish can be hard enough, but getting the arrow to stay in is another issue. In these next two I hit the fish, but they escape. Many times the fish will heal from the non-lethal wounds and maybe just be a bit more cautious in the future. For those who escape my arrow (and my dinner plate) but don't make it to live another day, they become food for crawfish and turtles, so at least some good still comes of it.

Not as a means of excuse, but rather as just evaluating the evidence and stating facts, the GoPro may have played a role in the unsuccessful nature of a few of these hits. Since the GoPro was taped about eight or nine inches from the tip of the arrow, it actually prevented the arrow from further piercing the fish. Sometimes I'll even grab the far end of the arrow after a hit just to make sure that the fish don't slide off.

There we go! I couldn't leave you with a successful GIF. I tried to slow down the intro too, so you can see the hit in slow-mo, or at least somewhat slower. It only takes a split second in real life. Anyway, I'll continue to be creative and see what else I can pull off. For those of you with a bow, I'd highly recommend you look into bowfishing. We are really enjoying it over here! Have a blessed night y'all!
Until next time…

Super nice, I myself love fishing as well and been contemplating getting a bow reel. Most times I'm fishing the traditional way with the wife and kids. It's so relaxing to be out on the water at peace. I've also recently purchased a GoPro that I'm looking forward to using while on the lake to record the catches. What's the common fish around your way @papa-pepper? Night fishing yields the best catches every time, how often you go?
In the past week, I've went about daily on average, since many days I went twice; during the day for carp and at night for suckers. It's bee fun and successful!
Cool man. I tend to go at least 3 times a week. It’s my therapy. I’m seriously gonna look into getting a fishing bow set up.
I've seen it done once before, but it was purely for recreational purposes. :)
Next, we need live POV.
