I'm Vegetarian for over three decades
Hi dear Steemians,
I am a vegetarian for over 3 decades and being a vegetarian has brought many benefits to my life, both physically and mentally. I feel lighter, healthier, and more energetic because my meals are usually filled with fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, pulses, nuts, and dairy products.
One of the biggest advantages of being vegetarian is that I am able to eat more fiber-rich food, which helps my digestion and keeps me feeling full for a longer time. I also feel that my body gets less heavy after meals, and I have more energy throughout the day.
Since vegetarian food usually contains less saturated fat and cholesterol than non-vegetarian food, I believe it helps me take better care of my heart and overall health. A balanced vegetarian diet can also support healthy weight management, which is another important benefit for me.
I enjoy the fact that I can eat delicious food without depending on meat. There are so many tasty vegetarian dishes available in Indian cuisine, from lentils and cheese to vegetables, curd, rice, and roti, that I never feel deprived. In fact, being vegetarian has made me more creative in choosing my meals and trying new recipes.
Another benefit is that I feel more connected to a simple and natural way of living. Eating vegetarian food gives me a sense of discipline and mindfulness about what I put into my body. It also makes me more aware of the importance of compassion toward animals and respect for life.
I personally feel good knowing that my food choices reflect kindness and non-violence. Being vegetarian can also be a practical and economical choice because many vegetarian foods are affordable and easily available. This makes it easier for me to maintain a healthy diet without spending too much money.
Overall, being vegetarian is not just about food for me; it is a lifestyle that supports my health, values, and everyday well being. It helps me stay active, feel fresh, and live with a stronger sense of balance and inner peace.
I am no more following any specific plan but once I gave up non vegetarian food I used to follow a Seven-Day vegetarian meal plan that helped me stay balanced, energetic, and well-nourished without meat.
For breakfast, I ate foods like cheese paratha, oats with nuts, or cereal with milk. At lunch, I rotated between lentils, kidney bean, gram, soy chunks, tofu, curd, brown rice, and whole wheat roti. For dinner, I can keep meals light but protein-rich with porridge, mixed vegetables, sprouts, cheese, or tofu stir-fry.
To support my vitamin B12 needs, I included dairy foods such as milk, curd, and cheese, along with foods like soy milk and breakfast cereals. I was always fan of nuts, seeds, etc. for extra protein and steady energy. T
his kind of meal plan keeps my food varied, tasty, and practical while helping me maintain strength, digestion, and overall health every day.
Seven-Day vegetarian meal planner helped my protein and B12 without meat. I am sure it helped my health impact simulator and reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer based on my age and diet transition.
I know some people who eat non-vegetarian food may laugh when they read my post, but I still want to say this with confidence: try it once and see the difference it can make. A vegetarian lifestyle has helped me feel lighter, more energetic, and more mindful about what I eat every day.
I have also noticed that it encourages healthier habits, better digestion, and a more balanced routine. Everyone has their own choice, and I respect that, but I believe experience speaks louder than opinion. So instead of dismissing it, try it for yourself and observe the changes. You may be surprised by how good it feels to live in a simpler, cleaner, and more conscious way.
I sometime face problem during my travel in the areas where people eat mostly non-veg food but I manage even there eating fruits and bread, etc.
