Quick Recipe


Task 1: Preparation


Today I will Prepare a meal that is a festival meal and without this meal our festival remain incomplete now a day. The name of this meal is Morog polao/ Chicken Rice


Used Ingredients

Potatoes8-10 pieces(small size)
Onion slices4 cups
Ginger and garlic paste2 tablespoons
Yogurt1/2 cup
Special spices (cinnamon, cardamom, cloves)as needed
Bay leaves2
Green chilies8-10
Ghee1/2 cup
Oil1/2 cup
Saltto taste
Raisinsfor garnish
Hot wateras needed

Making Process


Step- I

Arrange all ingredients and marinate the chicken

First I collect all the ingredients and then I cut chicken. For marinate I add ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, fried onion,yogurt as per above mentioned quantity. Then mix all these ingredients properly. Then I rest it for 30 minutes.

Cut potatoes and Fry

Then I peel the potatoes and cut. I mske two pieces of a potato because here I used smsll sized potatoes. Wash those very well and fry them at low flame for about 3-5 minutes.

Prepare the rice and drain water

Then I washed the rice well and soaked it for 20 minutes, then placed the rice in a small perforated container to drain the water.

Cook the chicken

In this step, I heated oil and ghee in a pan and added the marinated chicken and cooked it on low flame. No need to cover it with water as it will cook on low flame. And I cooked it till the chicken is soft. I also added green chillies here. When it is fully cooked, I transfer it another dish.

Cook the rice


Now It's time to boil the rice. First I fry the rice for about 5 minutes and then add hot water. Add raisins here. Remember to add double of water according to rice amount. Then cover it for boil.

Mixed the chicken with rice

Once the rice is cooked, I reduce the heat, add the cooked chicken, and cover and leave it airtight for 10-15 minutes.


Task 2: Festive Significance (2 marks)


In Bangladesh, morog polao is not just a delicious dish, it is deeply associated with special days and joyful moments. This dish is not usually cooked in everyday life; rather, it is prepared when there is a special occasion in the family or society.

Most often, morog polao is served at weddings or wedding invitations. In the Bengali wedding tradition, this dish is also considered a kind of ‘status’ or symbol of dignity. Serving it to entertain guests shows the richness and care of the arrangement.

In addition, morog polao is also a popular dish during Eid festivals, especially Eid-ul-Fitr. Morog polao also occupies a special place in the joy of the whole family sitting together on Eid day after a long month of fasting and eating delicious food. It increases the joy of Eid many times over.


Task 3: Festive Cultural significance(2 marks)


Rooster Polau holds a special place in the culture of Bangladesh. It is not just a food, but it is a reflection of various values ​​of Bengali life, such as joy, unity, hospitality and tradition. Firstly, Rooster Polau is also very important as a Morog of joy and celebration. This dish is not cooked on an ordinary day, but is prepared at special moments of joy. Therefore, the sight of it awakens a sense of celebration in people's minds. When family members sit together and enjoy this dish, that moment becomes more joyful and memorable. Secondly, it is a symbol of unity and family bonding. Eating together has a special importance in our society. While cooking and serving Morog Polau, everyone in the family is involved in some way. This collective participation strengthens the family bond and creates a spirit of love and cooperation among everyone.
Thirdly, Morog Polau is also very important as an example of hospitality. Bengalis treat guests with great respect and want to give their best in hospitality. So when a guest comes to the house, Morog Polao is served to show respect and sincerity. It is a proud aspect of our culture, which carries the identity of our hospitality. Fourth, it is a symbol of tradition and cultural continuity. The method of cooking Morog Polao, its taste and style of serving have been passed down from generation to generation. This recipe, learned from our mothers and grandmothers, has survived in the same way even today. It reminds us of our cultural roots and introduces the new generation to tradition.
