Assalam-O-Alaikum!
I hope you are all doing well and having a wonderful day. I am truly delighted to be part of this exciting cooking challenge organized by @alexanderpeace ma’am. This challenge is a lovely opportunity to showcase creativity. I share my traditional tastes with others. May Allah bless you all guys with happiness and success.
༻꧂Prepare your cultural festive meal. Show clear steps of your ingredients and cooking process.༻꧂ |
|---|
The Ingredients Required For This Recipe Is:
| SR | Ingredients |
|---|---|
| 1 | Chicken Half Kg |
| 2 | Curd Two Cup |
| 3 | Onions Two Medium |
| 4 | Garlic Paste One Spoon |
| 5 | Salt Half Spoon Or As Taste |
| 6 | Red Chilli Powder One Spoon Or As Taste |
| 7 | Almonds Ten To Twelve Pieces Or As Taste |
| 8 | Coriander Powder One Spoon |
| 9 | Cumin Powder Half Spoon |
| 10 | Garam Masala Powder Half Spoon |
| 11 | Whole Spices As Taste |
| 12 | Kewra Half Spoon |
Procedure
Step 1 |
|---|
For making korma guys. I first start by marinating the chicken. I took a nice bowl. I added the chicken that I had already washed properly. Then I added yogurt to it. After that I mixed in some spices like salt and red chili powder. I always like to keep the spices according to my own taste.
Then I add one spoon of garlic paste. I also add one spoon of lemon juice. After adding all the ingredients. I mixed everything really well so the chicken is nicely coated. Then I left it to marinate for about half an hour.
Step 2 |
|---|
When the chicken was marinating guys. I placed a pan on the stove. I added one cup of oil to it. I let the oil heat up a little. Once it was warm. I took medium sized onions. I sliced them. I added them to the oil. Then I started frying them nicely until they turned golden.
Step 3 |
|---|
After few minutes guys the onions started turning light brown. So I continued frying them until they became nicely golden brown. When they were done. I took them out into a separate plate and left the oil to cool down a bit.
Step 4 |
|---|
After the chicken had marinated for about half an hour. I placed the pan back on the stove. In the same oil I added whole spices like bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, and cinnamon. I fried them for about 30 to 40 seconds. Until they released a nice aroma. Then I added the marinated chicken to the pan.
Step 5 |
|---|
Then I cook the chicken with the whole spices for about five to seven minutes. I stirring it well so it was nicely fried. After that I added one teaspoon of coriander powder. After adding the coriander powder. I mixed everything well. Then I added yogurt to the pan (about one cup). After adding the yogurt. I let it cook for another five to ten minutes. So that the chicken could become tender.
Step 6 |
|---|
Then after about five to seven minutes. I took the fried onions that we had prepared earlier. I added them to a blender. I add in about half a cup of water. I blend everything well.
This is to make a smooth onion paste.
Step 7 |
|---|
I add the onion paste. I had prepared and mixed it really well. Along with that. I added kewra water (about half a teaspoon). It gives a very nice aroma to the dish. After adding it. I mixed everything nicely. I let it cook again so the chicken becomes really tender and flavorful.
Step 8 |
|---|
Then I checked the spices once. Well guys everything was just perfect according to my taste. When the chicken became fully tender. I added around 8 to 10 almonds. Along with that I added half a teaspoon of garam masala powder and half a teaspoon of cumin powder. I mixed everything well. Then turned off the flame. I covered the pan with a lid. I let it rest for about 3 minutes.
And just like that our chicken korma is ready.
༻꧂When is this meal typically prepared in your culture? Is it linked to a specific celebration, holiday, or special occasion?༻꧂ |
|---|
Korma is a traditional dish guys in my culture. It is usually prepared on happy occasions and festivals. It is very common to make it especially on religious festivals like Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. This dish also has a special significance in weddings, feasts and family functions guys.
It is a "festive food" due to its rich and aromatic gravy, which symbolizes hospitality and happiness. Whenever there is a special occasion in the house or guests come, it is part of our tradition to make and serve kurma. It not only tastes great. It also reflects our culture, love and family traditions.
༻꧂What does this meal represent in your culture in terms of joy, togetherness, hospitality, and tradition? Explain how it reflects your people’s lifestyle, the spirit of festivities and festive values.༻꧂ |

This dish is a symbol of love and tradition. This dish is especially made on occasions when there is a happy atmosphere in the house, like Eid, wedding or family functions. It does not just mean filling your stomach. It is about spending time together. Guys also sharing happiness.
Korma represents togetherness in my culture. It is usually eaten together with the family members and guests. When everyone gathers at the same table. It increases love, unity and intimacy. Similarly it is also a symbol of hospitality. Well making kurma for guests is considered a sign of honor and sincerity.
This dish also reflects our tradition and lifestyle. Well guys food is not just a necessity. It is an emotional connection. Korma reminds us of the importance of sharing happiness, valuing others and being together in our culture guys.
