SLC31-W3: Shop & Share Challenge - Street Market Purchase

in Traveling Steem13 days ago

Hello Steemian!

Assalamu Alaikum, how are you all? Dear friends, I hope everyone is well. Alhamdulillah, I am also well. I have appeared in the third week of the learning challenge topic. I really like shopping at roadside markets. Such markets are very much involved in our lives. We buy vegetables, fish, or fruits at any time. The vegetable shops or fruit shops that are located on the side of the road often sell fresh produce. Especially, they bring vegetables from the area and sell them on the side of the road. First of all, I would like to thank my dear teacher @josepha for choosing a beautiful topic.

The lychees looked very fresh.

✓ Tell us why you chose that street or open market

I often shop from this side of the road. The road from which I bought litchi, mango, and other fruits is Anderson Road in Cox's Bazar. This is basically a market road. A lot of people travel here. Especially, there are cloth shops, cosmetics shops, and gold shops. Moreover, there are various hawker markets. When people go shopping in the market, when they find a vegetable or fruit shop next door, they buy things from there at a low price. That is, clothes are bought together, and they take the vegetables or fruits they need.

The shop was right next to the road.

The most special advantage is that the fruits are available at a low price. They are very fresh, and the price is also low. Since they live in a specific place, they sell the fruits or vegetables at a specific time every day. If they do not have a shop, they would have to pay the rent of that shop and pay taxes. But they do not have to pay them. Due to which they give the things to the customers at a low price. The customers are satisfied with the things.

On the one hand, they get fresh vegetables. On the other hand, they get them at a low price. When I go to this street, I buy any kind of fruit I see. Because I like to buy at a low price, and it is available fresh.

✓ The price of the item you purchased from the street or the open market

Since I said earlier, it is available at a low price from the fruit shops along this street, it is very nice to eat. And they bring the things directly from the village level and sell them. So, fresh fruits or vegetables are available. And because they sell by the roadside, they do not have to pay any taxes, which is why they can give the things to the customers at a low price. They do not lose anything. That is why the things are available at a low price.

You can see it right in front of the market.

The side of the road where I bought the fruits had mangoes, litchis, and pineapples. There was a guava in another shop next to it, and also plums. Their prices were very low. I bought litchis and mangoes from there. Moreover, I bought plums and got to know the prices of other things. Which I will write and show you today.

✓ Describe your shopping experience, including pricing, bargaining, and product quality

When I bought litchis, I asked the seller how much they cost. He told me the price of 100 litchis was 300 taka. Then I asked him to lower the price a little. He said the price was 250 taka. So he could not give him much less. Finally, he agreed to pay me 260 taka, and I bought 100 litchis from there. The litchis were very tasty and fresh. Unlike other markets, buying items from these open markets is generally a bit cheaper.

The mangoes in this shop were very fresh.

Since I bought from the roadside, he sold the things at a small profit. I really liked being able to buy the things. But buying from the market would have cost me a lot more, which I didn't like at all. If you can buy things from such roadside or open markets, on the one hand, you can get good things at a low price, and you can get satisfaction from buying. Which I really liked. I often do such purchases and have gained a lot of experience. I like to buy things by checking and negotiating the price.

I stood there and took a selfie.

Both the buyer and the seller benefit from this; there is very little chance of anyone losing money. There is an opportunity to buy things after checking.

✓ In some places street or open markets usually cause traffic describe how busy the street or open market is

There was not much traffic on the side of the road where I bought litchis. Especially, there were only one or two vendors on the side of the road, due to which there was not much traffic jam. Since the shop was located next to the market, only the customers of the market bought the fruits. Those who like them are there, and those who don't like them are there. The number of customers here is very small, due to which the traffic jam is very small.

IMG_20260503_172325.jpg
There was a lot of traffic on the road.

When I bought the fruit, there were three other customers, due to which there was not much traffic jam. Since it is located next to the road, whoever likes it will buy. People do not come here especially to buy fruits. Since they buy things from the cloth market, when they go for any necessary work, they buy things as they wish when they come from there.

✓ What is your advice to the street or open market sellers to improve business performance?

Those who sell things in the open market on the side of the road are very poor. They work hard to earn two meals for their families. Their families have many people who depend on them. If they sell, they will eat; if they cannot sell, they will not eat. Many times, when the rainy season comes, those who sell get wet in the rain. Even then, they do not stop selling. If they cannot sell, their families will not survive.

This store had a digital weighing machine.

What I would say is that if any administration or supporting people build a place for them, it would be good. If the administration provides this assistance, it will have momentum. They will be able to sell in a specific place, and they will have a safe place. The most important thing is that if they arrange their things beautifully and sell them, the attraction of their things will increase even more. This is my advice for business development.

Review:
The street business you visited sells a lot of fresh fruits of different kinds and vegetables products. The vegetables business needs care and proper preservation otherwise, the seller may end up selling at a loss. Roadside business is where majority of well established businesses started from.
