What is blockchain technology?
Assalamu Alaikum
Blockchain is one of the most talked about and revolutionary technologies in the world today. Simply put, it is a digital ledger of information, which is spread across thousands of computers instead of a single central authority. This technology began in 2008 when Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin. The specialty of blockchain is that once any information is added to it, it is almost impossible to change, delete or hack it. It is not only the basis of cryptocurrencies, but also a powerful means of bringing transparency to numerous sectors such as banking, healthcare and supply chains.
As the name suggests, it is a combination of several blocks and chains or chains. Each block contains three main things: some information or data, a digital identity of the block itself called a 'hash', and the hash of the previous block. When a transaction occurs, it is stored in a new block. This block is sent to all computers in the network for verification. When everyone confirms that the transaction is correct, the block is connected to the previous block like a chain. Since each block carries the hash of its previous block, if someone wants to change the information in a block, the hash of all subsequent blocks will change and the entire chain will become invalid. This unique structure protects the blockchain from hackers.
The biggest strength of the blockchain is its Decentralization. In conventional systems, all information is on the server of a bank or company, but in the blockchain, the information is with each participant in the network. As a result, no single person or institution can control it. Second, its Transparency. Anyone in this network can see the history of any transaction, but the personal identity of the transactor remains encrypted. Third, its Immutability. Once a piece of information is added to the chain, it is preserved for life, which is unparalleled in preventing fraud.
Currently, blockchain is not limited to cryptocurrencies. It is being used to create smart contracts that automatically execute contracts. It is being used to verify the true origin of products in the supply chain. There are even plans to use blockchain to prevent fraud in the voting process in the future. However, it is still a very expensive and complex technology, which may take some time to reach the common people.
In short, blockchain is an internet technology that creates a place of trust between people. It has reduced the need for intermediaries and allowed for direct and secure transactions. Although its journey began with Bitcoin, it has now emerged as the backbone of information technology. For those who believe in digital security and want to build a transparent world, blockchain is a modern light of hope that will radically change the world of tomorrow. Today's discussion concludes here. I hope you've found it interesting. Please share your thoughts on today's topic. Prayers for everyone. May everyone be well. Amen.
