El nido quedó vacío

Estoy de nuevo por aquí con el mismo tema, pero con una historia diferente. Ya transcurrió un mes desde mi entrada anterior, cuando apenas habían nacido los polluelos de halcón. Aquí les dejo el enlace de mi publicación anterior.

Lugar específico donde está el nido

Esta fotografía es de hace dos días, justamente del 23/05/2026. Mi hija pasó por allí y, como también había seguido todo el proceso con curiosidad, ubicó el lugar y lo señaló. Apenas se distingue una sombra, pero uno de los halcones estaba asomado en la ventana.

This photograph was taken two days ago, precisely on 05/23/2026. My daughter walked by the area and, since she had also followed the entire process with curiosity, she located the place and pointed it out. You can barely distinguish a shadow, but one of the falcons was perched near the window.

Pareja de halcones peregrinos resguardando el nido

Ya había comentado antes, apenas descubrí este caso, lo fascinante que resultaba observar en vivo todo el proceso: desde que la madre empollaba los huevos hasta hoy, cuando las crías finalmente echaron a volar.

I had already mentioned before, as soon as I discovered this case, how fascinating it was to watch the entire process live: from the moment the mother incubated the eggs until today, when the chicks finally took flight.

La madre y sus polluelos

Sin darnos cuenta, mi hija y yo comenzamos a seguir cada etapa de los halcones. Entre las dos fuimos aprendiendo detalles que desconocíamos.

En esta fotografía pueden observar las tres crías que nacieron. El cuarto huevo no llegó a desarrollarse con normalidad, algo que suele ocurrir en la naturaleza.

Without realizing it, my daughter and I began following every stage of the falcons. Together we learned many details we did not know before.

In this photograph you can see the three chicks that were born. The fourth egg did not develop normally, something that often happens in nature.

En este enlace pueden ver la noticia donde cuentan que, en algún momento, la madre salió volando y uno de los polluelos quedó accidentalmente enganchado en una de sus patas, cayendo al vacío. Son cosas que ocurren en la naturaleza, y más aún cuando esta se desarrolla en medio de un entorno urbano.

In this ****link**** you can read the news explaining that, at some point, the mother flew away while one of the chicks accidentally became trapped in her leg and fell into the void. These are things that happen in nature, especially when it develops within an urban environment.

Fue muy interesante observar cómo tanto el padre como la madre salían a buscar alimento para sus crías. Se turnaban y, hasta que estuvieron un poco más grandes, nunca las dejaban solas.

It was very interesting to observe how both the father and the mother went out searching for food for their chicks. They took turns and, until the chicks grew a little bigger, they never left them alone.

Crecen muy rápido

Siento alegría y tristeza al mismo tiempo porque los vi crecer, y no puedo dejar de pensar en la analogía con los humanos cuando los hijos crecen y se marchan de casa.

I feel joy and sadness at the same time because I watched them grow, and I cannot help thinking about the analogy with humans when children grow up and leave home.

Es exactamente igual, solo que en este caso los padres se marchan primero.

It is exactly the same, except that in this case the parents leave first.

Ellos permiten que sus hijos aprendan a defenderse solos. A veces siento que el instinto de los animales conserva una claridad que nosotros hemos ido perdiendo. Durante este proceso pude observar lo rápido que crecen y cómo, en muy poco tiempo, llegan a ser autosuficientes.

They allow their young to learn how to survive on their own. Sometimes I feel that the instinct of animals preserves a clarity that humans have gradually lost. During this process I was able to observe how quickly they grow and how, in such a short time, they become self-sufficient.

En muy poco tiempo ya quieren volar

Durante el seguimiento que hice a lo largo de este proceso, que comenzó en marzo, tomé varias fotografías para mi colección haciendo capturas de pantalla, ya que la cámara transmite en vivo las 24 horas del día.

Throughout the follow-up I carried out during this process, which began in March, I took several photographs for my collection by capturing screenshots, since the camera broadcasts live twenty-four hours a day.

Minutos antes de emprender el vuelo

Hoy, como cada día, en algún momento busqué la cámara para observar a los halcones, presintiendo que pronto estarían listos para volar. No me equivoqué. El nido estaba vacío.

Today, as every day, at some point I checked the camera to watch the falcons, sensing that they would soon be ready to fly. I was not wrong. The nest was empty.

Retrocedí la grabación y pude ver que unas horas antes estaban bastante inquietos. El más grande desplegaba sus alas, que por cierto ya eran enormes, y volaba dentro del pequeño habitáculo como si estuviera practicando. Ambos se asomaban a la ventana y sé que, de alguna forma, se comunicaban.

I rewound the recording and saw that a few hours earlier they had been very restless. The larger one spread its wings, which were already enormous, and flew inside the small space as if practicing. Both leaned toward the window and I know that somehow they were communicating.

Los dos miraban hacia arriba.

Both kept looking upward.

De pronto el más grande se decidió, y el otro se quedó mirando hacia arriba. Increíblemente, poco después él también se marchó.

Suddenly the larger one made the decision, while the other remained looking upward. Amazingly, shortly after, he left as well.

El nido está vacío y probablemente en marzo llegue otra pareja para continuar el ciclo de la vida y la preservación de la especie.

The nest is now empty, and probably by March another pair will arrive to continue the cycle of life and the preservation of the species.

Con alegrías y tristezas, imprevistos y accidentes, pero siempre hacia adelante, una vez más.

With joys and sorrows, unexpected moments and accidents, but always moving forward, once again.
